Hey everyone I'm new here, I had been reading posts for a while but thought I would finally introduce myself to the world. So here is my trucks story so far.I picked up a 1940 Chevy 2 ton flat bed a couple months ago from a guy in AZ my buddy pulled it back to Camp Pendleton CA for me with his 73 Chevy didn't think we where going to make it for a bit, but at 15 mph we finally made it back in about 15 hours. I have been working the tear down for the last 3 months. Not getting much time to work on it. My housing division finally caught on to me working on it and had me move it to a shop here on base. Its costing me about 8 dollars a day keeping it there. So right now I'm just looking for some ugly parts for cheap to get it running so I can get her home again. When I got it, she was mostly intact just missing most of the engine components and she has a rotten floor board but just a couple spots of cancerous rust. not too sure what the original colors where it was possibly black, blue, green or maybe it was even rust!! But I'm thinking long run and will probably paint it POR15 black and silver (or mix the two for a gun metal) on the fenders and trim. All of that seems like a long way out though working on Marine Corp pay. Oh well I guess I'm just hoping I don't get sent out anytime before its up and running.
Cool, I like 2 tons! You might want to reconsider the por15 ( on the outside anyway ) it's not u-v stable!
Thanks to all! and thank you for your support mastergun. I had heard the POR 15 fades to almost a purple color. I was actually hoping for it. but in the fenders and under body as well as the floor boards and other problem places I plan to use POR regardless just so I don't have to worry about wear and future rust.
