Tim I can post measurements from the original seat. There are some late model seats that work but they don't look right. Most of the bench seats(and bucket seats) you find in late model cars are narrow in the back and get wide in the front. The original seat is straight, or maybe narrower in the front. If you redid a newer seat spring and frame you could make it look right.

I have an original seat in my sedan. It's like sitting on your couch. It's nice but if you have a good handling car that corners good you have to use the grip on the steering wheel to keep from laying down on the seat from g forces. That is a little irritating.

I don't want to make the seat exactly the same, i just want it to be roughly the same size with the same kind of curved back, it may involve a double bomber style seat or similar...

I'm after a favour if someone could help please, My hole trunk latch mechanism is missing on my business coupe, I have found a sedan one on ebay but i'm not sure if it is the same. can someone post a photo of the inside of their trunk lid on a coupe so i can see what it should look like?

    Thanks

Hello Tim, depends upon the model. Yours is a special deluxe model, that should have a trunk latch which has two arms which pivot in the middle, and run from the middle, (where the trunk handle shaft runs through), to the side edges inside the trunk. Most master deluxe and master 85 models had single latch in the middle, which was more like a hinged clamp that latched below the trunk handle inside the trunk. I might be able to send you pictures if you need them. BTW, nice project!

:) Has anyone lowered their headlight pods and tunneled or frenched them? Much work involved and is it worth the effort?

Thanks, Mine looks like it latches in the middle and had rubber buffers at the side which is odd for a Special Deluxe, The bolt holes are there though so maybe i could use a side latching one instead, first two photos are mine, other three are of the one for sale.

Hello Tim, well may not be odd, but yes, your decklid and bracket in the trunk well are for a center latch. Pics of the one for sale is the "side-to-side" latch. All the trunk lids (coupe/sedan) were equipped to accommodate both, so it's your call. If you buy the one for sale, be sure to get all the hardware, (bolts, brackets, etc.) with it. I don't recall, but length of the decklid handle shaft might also be different in length depending upon which latch mechanism is used.

Thanks again, do you or anyone have a photo of the centre latch type?

Actually there may be something in what you say length of the handle, i just put mine through the hole and it sticks through a couple of inches where as on the photos of the one for sale it can't be that long. Here's a photo of mine, slightly bent but i can straighten it, didn't really want to mess with it as the original key works on all the locks and ignition...

Pm me if you need a different handle I have I believe one of each. I have a special deluxe and master 85, and I'm not using the trunk handle on mine. I have all kinds of trim from the special deluxe I parted out.

Hello Tim, here are some pics of the latch which would've been on your car originally. This one if from a 48 Chevy, but I believe they are essentially the same. First pic is open, 2nd picture is when closed. Not the greatest photos, but hopefully you get the idea.

Thanks for that, i have only just seen this reply.

I have just found latch on ebay, it's different from the one you show but looks like it may work. Here are some images of it, what do you think?

Quite a lot of progress made since my last photos due to a lot of late nights at the workshop...
Car is now running and driving although i am still waiting for my gear shifter to arrive so can't take it down the road which is annoying!

Well i made it to the sand... and back!

First run over 5 miles took me over 650 miles to Pendine Sands and back where i took part in the VHRA Hot Rod races on the beach where many a land speed record was set back in the 1920's. i managed 75.01 mph on a 0.8 mile track which is pretty good i think with a fairly stock 235ci motor... It was pretty scary but the excitement over ruled!
