After a very long time of working on building a G***er from the past, look what I found. A 1940 Chevy that was originally built in 1958 with a stretched out 302 to 320, 5-97's with all the 50's intake, exhaust and internals hooked up to a 1937 LaSalle ******, and a 54 Pontiac rear end. The old "D" G***er has been in storage for some time but has been run periodically so it is going to take very little to get her track ready. If interested the InLiner International 12 port news did a 3 page article with all the details of the history about the car in the Jan/Apr issue in 1995. I plan on debuting her at the Day of the Drags in Temple, TX this Fall if I don't find another Nostalgic Drags something sooner!
It would be a long haul, but the " Meltdown Drags" is July 21-22 2012 at historic Byron Dragway(aka Rockford dragway) Byron ILL. www.meltdowndrags.com
Never know II Funny you just may see us there, I plan on doing some traveling with the car to True Vintage and Nostalgic drags.
I can never get enough of 5 carbed inline engines from the sixties!!! This coupe is my favorite Chevy coupe ..... period
Well inline cars are not usually my cup of tea, but that is just cool. I would like to see it make a p*** or two. Maybe I'll get lucky and someone will publish a movie clip. Pretty slick old ride.
Exactly, Benno! Whilst rivalling the Six-in-a-row guys in Santa Clara, I was slapped down to 'respect' when I got my clock thoroughly cleaned on First Street one night. Nailed the long skinny one to the floor, my 296" flattie was first one outa the gate...Slam second, and this big blur of a '38 Chevy Coupe jets by, "ZZZOOOOOM!" Then he shifts... Gone! Got a good look at his taillights. He pulled over, we looked at each others' '****nals'...I had 4 97s, he had 5. His was a 302 GMC truck mill, aluminum pistons, McGurk everything...Man, he was fast.
I see one once in a blue moon that is worthy of the "hot rod" moniker. I have yet to see a fast 235 but some of the fellas will swear and be damned if they don't either own or or have owned one. Lot of respect for the big Jimmy and the big Ford engines though.
thats awesome, actually just brought home a 40 coupe project myself. looks like i have a little more work infront of m though to get her track roadworthy than you do though!
Now this is cool! I can appreciate a Hopped-Up 6 Banger! And this is REALLY Hopped up! haha Looks *****in! I'm a ****er for unique G***ers!
very cool--used the be a 38 Chevy coupe with a big Jimmy and 5 carbs that ran at Madera in 60-62. It was VERY fast and shut down many V8's-ran E/Gas I think-car was out of Orosi Ca as I recall.
