Help !! 1940 flathead has little to no spark at the plugs when trying to start it but when i get it started the spark from the plugs are great. It has a rebuilt distributor (1 year ago) from macsautoparts and a aftermarket coil kit (1 year old). The spark comeing from the coil when i crank it over is great but not at the plugs until it starts the ballist resistor is byp***ed, the battery is charged

Weak condensers give problems at the low rpms & idle so like Frenchy I'd check them first.

Try an IH-200 condensor from NAPA. That's what I use on my '40.
