1990's frame off HOT ROD 40 Ford pickup. has a steel bed floor that held water like your bath tub, only there was no drain. eventually rust made a drain that dumped on the passenger side cab wood rotting the hell out of it.

so we got the wood from All Ford Parts in Campbell. gonna put it in soon. anybody got any free advice on the best way to proceed? this wood is all one piece per side, I saw one online that was 3 pieces for each side.

truck is a running driving (almost) vehicle.

thanks for the pics and advice. as I am working on the steering as we speak it is already unhooked, and the factory pedals are long gone. shouldn't be too much else in the way.

luckily I'll be doing this on a lift, so I won't be rolling around on the floor trying to finagle these wood pieces in.

well if anyone is interested it is not that bad. I unbolted the fenders from the cab, then unbolted the cab and lifted it up one corner at a time and stuck 2x4x6 blocks in there to hold it up. no stock pedals or other things in the way. this thing has 4 hoses goin to the firewall for heat and AC, that limited how high I could lift. I had to unhook the choke cable.

I'm 52. I wouldn't do this job without a lift or a cab you could really lift off the chassis like 10" or so...
