Hey guys. I need some advice on my steering column for my 40 Ford Coupe. I am using an Olds 88 Tilt/telescopic column and need to know how to go about converting the lower end of the column to accept double D . Should I be using the stock Ujoint that came with the column just to convert it to double D, and then use aftermarket ujoints, etc from Ididit or a company like that? any help would be appreciated. I am somewhat familiar with setting up a steering shaft like this and I have done it on drag vehicles, but this is my first street rod with a stock type steering column. Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

    Chris,
I have a similar issue. Converting from a 3/4 smooth round ( 71 GMC steering column) to 3/4 DD to the steering box. I found a knuckle on ebay to do the conversion about $25 dollars. I am planning to arc weld the ujoint to the shafts. There is a rag joint at the steering box. I have never done this before either.
