Hi everyone. I have a completely stock 40 sedan I'll have owned it a year in march. I drove it all season and had a great time with the car. I'm now in the process of rebuilding the front suspension and adding disc brakes up front. It's a speedway 11" kit and I went with 4.5" bolt pattern. Anyone else running 4.5" bolt pattern rims? I'd like to keep steel wheels and am looking for info on what rims to buy. I'm also looking to drop the front end and I'm leaning towards first doing a posies spring and then maybe someday down the road having Sid's nostolgia axles dropping my axle. I'm still on the fence on what path I'm taking on the lowering situation right now. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Do you want to sell the stock fronts, and you should have ordered a kit with 5 on 5 1/2" bolt pattern to keep the stock wheels. Magnum, Pete and Jakes, Superbell? cant remember but somebody makes a rotor / disc setup that clears the stock 40 stepped style rim.
speedway sells different disc brake kits. you have to watch some because they kick your wheels out. make sure you get there kit part number 91031940 $ 229.99 and it will keep your wheels in a stock location. the wheels you need for the front are wheel vintques gennie series 15 x 5 with 3 inch back space. you can use stock hubcaps or theirs. if you are splitting your wishbone I already have a nice pair split with the bungs already welded on that I would sell. good luck on your 40 build
4.5 means 15" rims. Use VW tires on the front and your front will drop enough to make you happy without a dropped axle. Thats what I have done for 22 years on my 39 Ford
