I'd be tickled shitless to have either stance in my driveway. Some excellent examples posted here. Y'all got some mighty fine 40s.
Makes me wish I'd kept mine, but the P.O. had a '46 rear window put in it, and from the rear looked like a Hudson! The '40 was black, red/white tuck-and-roll, 364" Buick Nail, with four 97s on a Crower U-fab chrome intake. Thanks, guys... Enjoyed such a nice collection of Fabulous Forties!
Here's mine, de-arched parallel leafs and 2" blocks got it down 5" +- and it has about 2" of ride before it bottoms out.
Shame it wasn't still transverse leaf. It would be relatively easy to get it low. It beats me why people bother fitting parallel leaves in. Just a modification for the sake of modification with at best only minimal benefit.
I'm not a rake guy. But as a wake skater back in my younger days we used to say "want more boat wake? Date fatter chicks." So if you want her lower, you know what to do! Hobestly I thought it looked pretty damn good in the beginning. I hang out with a few guys who bag everything and seem obsessed with dragging their frames. I don't get it....
My fresh 40 has the C.E. rear suspension, 235/75x15s, 1 1/2" adjustable lowering blocks set 1/8" forward, and sits just like I wanted.
