    Hi guys!

Done some searches for this, but haven't come up with anything.
Are there any differences on the running boards between 1940 Ford and 1940
Mercury. I want to buy new rubber for my Merc ones. Any suggestions on
    where? Steele?

    Thanks!

  2. Mercury 39 and 40 running boards are different from 39 and 40 Ford
Biggest problem is they are longer than the Ford ones.

I'm still looking for running boards for my own 39 coupe.

Have looked around for rubber for my 40 ford coupe too, but have only found complete runningboards at high prices.....

Bob drake has the complete boards i recall....

Dunno if the Ford and Mercury boards are the same though!

If someone knows where to find only rubber for these cars i would be glad to share!

There is a gentleman ... named Hunley Acuff that recovers your boards. I used him on my 1940 Ford and they looked like NOS Ford when he finished with them. He does cars other than 40 Fords also.

He now has a web contact. It is here

JB, I don't know if this will help but when I got my 40 it came with a new set of rubber covers. There are no markings or tags on them to ID who made them. I dug them out tonight and rolled them out on the boards and they are a perfect fit. I went through some of the paperwork that came with the car I came across this card and a this flyer stapled to it. Might be worth a shot. Sorry the phone number on the card is not visable I only have a photo copy of it.

A friend recently sent his 40 Merc boards to Hunley Acuff. Looked good, with freight from Oregon to Georgia and back was almost $1000. Above ad for M&F is now called Metro, same address in Wilmington, Ma. Phone 800-878-2237. last price I had was about $500 for rubber you install.....Red
