I particularly like the split rear window. Excellent work. Also glad the windshield will be raised. So is this car yours now or his?

  2. this car belongs to Rudy. It was never mine. someone should have bought it.... it was in the classified. It's still for sale. Price may be different now though [IMG]

stock back windows look cool, I dont understand why they always get cut out

Looks very nice. Could the cowl be dropped to give you a taller windshield?

  4. the top of the winshield goes up an inch or so into the roof. The bottom of the winshield stays where it's at.

That is beautiful,I love those lines. There is a good reason why the "classic",traditional cars always look good when done right, and they always will.40 Mercs look a little lumpy and fat until they're chopped, and then they come alive.Good job, metalwork looks great.

  6. That looks too sweet, '40 Mercs are the ultimate customs. I would love to get ahold of one, but I just couldn't afford to have someone chop it, and do it right. And if they're not chopped then they don't look to good. Could you keep posting pics of the progress, I'd really like to see it.

Great-looking work, of course! Glad to hear that the top of the windshield is being raised. Most high-crown turrets need it but few get it.

  15. Very cool! Beautiful metal work! I've got a 40 merc but it's a sedan, wish it was a coupe! Can't figure out how to chop the sedan and make it look that good! Looking forward to more pics!

I would think that car has to be at the top of the list of cars that will get you laid.

If anybody is looking for a 40 Merc coupe, I just passed one up. Solid, no rot, running, complete car. Needs some interior and motor TLC, but its fairly cheap (under $14,000). On the central coast. e-mail me if you want to know more...

  19. I do know you can buy this one chopped by a master for quite a bit less than that.

There are few cars out there that really undergo a personality change when chopped. The 1940 Mercury is one. Very nice job Rudy, it's got eyes. I enclosed some pictures of my '40 Merc well underway. 500 inch Caddy, flushed skirts, bagged, blah, blah.

    Gooch.....what's he asking now ?

Thanks for the post.....'40 Mercs live

  21. brother, your picture dont work. It may be too big. Also post an intro and the ladies will love you.

with the top and windshield done and in primer I think he wants 10K for it. His number is above if anyone wants to chat with him.

I know it's a convertible AND it has a visor (let's not go down that road again), but this thing is menacingly bad-ass! Belongs to Pete Tyas over here in the UK...pics don't do it justice.

    Hey Flat Ernie,

That's My Old Merc. Sold it to Pete last year. Breaks my heart everytime I see a picture of it. Tell Pete Mike said Hello. He was going to send a magazine article that was done in the U.K. on the Merc. Haven't gotten it yet.
