Am working on a 1940 Plymouth. I have the original windshield wipers that I converted to use a VW motor. I am missing parts on the tips of the arms that hold the wiper blades. Have the threaded tips and pot metal splined bosses but don't know what holds them together or how the wiper arms attach. Can anyone show photos and describe the configuration?
Assuming the VW motor was installed with the VW transmission as well. The splined drum ends are replacement adaptors someone added long ago. There should be a set screw holding them to a shaft about 1/4'' in diameter, which the factory VW arms bolted to. You may be able to use US made arms on the splined adaptors although most of them came loose and are hogged out.
I kept the Plymouth transmissions and bezels. Brazed the arms to the VW. Looking some Ebay auctions looks like Plymouth arms had through holes and held to transmissions with chrome castle nuts. Don't know where the knurled pieces came from!
I’ve seen those spline adapters used to change to a different type of arms to fit. Can’t remember where I saw them advertised.
