Stopping in my local convenience store a gal behind the counter commented on my old car shirt. We got to talking and I knew she and her husband hit a few car shows and had a couple old rides.. We talked about his latest project,a '58 Chevy truck. Then she says he has a car that he's had 35 years and hasn't touched it. I asked what it was and she said it was a '40 Willys coupe and she's asked him to get rid of it several times and his reply has been no...he likes just looking at it and I get that. Hopefully I'll get to at least admire it with her husband before it snows. Another car tucked away that few folks know about. Never know where a random conversation can lead.
Reminds me of a story, one time back in 1997 my son and i were in Maine and we bought a cab from a 37 Dodge truck. We were on the way home and stopped at a local gas/convenience store, there was a young girl working there that seen the old cab in the back of our truck, said her boyfriend had one just like it for sale, all in parts.Yes it was just like that old one in your truck,my ears picked up when i heard that, she pointed at a paper stuck to the bulletin board where his ad was,It was a 78 GMC she didnt know the difference.Hopefully your tip will turn out better then mine did.
So you're saying '37 Dodge and '78 GMC cabs aren't a direct interchange? Every now and then I get a reality check on how differently people view cars (and trucks). Recently at a car show there was a '75 Ford Elite, nearly identical to the one my step mother drove daily for over 10 years. When I showed her the pic, she had no memory of it. Her mind is sharp. My Dad couldn't believe it.
Reminds me of one of my cranky neighbors. Always told me about this old Cord of his. Never did see the car in all the years I knew him but never doubted him.
