I have been pecking away at my truck and the dash is a certifiable mess. The Drivers side is cut and destroyed to some extent. I would like to put it back to as close to stock in shape as possible before I start adding the old SW's I have. Can somebody help me with a picture of a stock one, The sad thing is the center to the right is really pretty good. Thanks, Tim
If you want more of this 100% perfect & stock truck I can take some tomorrow... PM me if you want them sent from my phone to yours.
Thank you all, Man the Willys dash does have a few variations. Mine must be a '39 as it has the round holes for the gauges. At least one of them anyways, But the pictures give me alot to work with. Thank you all. Take Care, Tim
Some of the early 1940 Willys had the two round gauge holes carried over from 1939 - remember there are no absolutes with Willys and the dash revision was a running change not a precise model year cutoff....
Hey Tim, Ive got a '34 Hupp gauge cluster. At a glance its somewhat close to the Willys setup in size and design. Drop a line if you like it.
Weasel, Gorgeous '40...have you got an exterior view? Have never seen a '40 with the round gauges, even in a low serial numbers. My thought is they were left over from the 37-38 models, and came out in the early 39's Remember the Canadian brothers (McLanders ?) with the pair of 39 sedans...the light blue 2-door had the round gauges and the pro-street 4-door had the dash similar to the 40, with the gauge package like in the picture. g-willys
Yo Weasel. Great shot of the of this 40 dash. Do you have a strait shot of it. I would like to see the whole dash. Thank you hrw
This was restored by Hatfield Restorations in Canton, TX - a Hamber I believe. A teaser and links to more shots below - note rare factory accessory tach.... www.hatfieldrestorations.com/1940willys.html www.hatfieldrestorations.com/interior-1940willys.html
Weasel, Is that Pat ***mings coupe...the one that once was black? If so, it is one of the nicest around...even before he switched colors. He also had a beautiful 35-36-coupe, but I had heard he sold it...do you know where it went? g-willys
I will try and post a picture of my mangled dash, but I'm pretty sure I have a '38 or '39 truck with a '40 front end on it. The holes for gauges are circular and in the middle. There's only one left but I think I may need to fabricate the whole left side. No biggie, but it would be cool to save as much Willys as possible. It's too bad because the P***enger side is pretty good and even has the glove box still. Thank you all who posted you really helped figure this out. There's some beautiful Willys on here. See Ya, Tim
heres some of the earlier type dashes, the first 2 are from a 37 I believe, the rough one shows whats behind a 38 dash which may help identify what you have. My 38 one has the 2 large gauges plus a third smaller one centralised beneath them, then 4 switch holes in a row beneath that
Okay guys here is what I am starting with, somebody actually had the '54 oil and amp gauges working. I admire their spirit. But good lord the look just doesn't do it for me.
