I have been watching your build since the first post, you have done a fantastic job! Congratulations, you should be very proud of what YOU have created!

Who cares what anybody thinks about your minivan seat. You're the one who is going be sitting on it, and I bet it's much more comfy than the original.

I put some chrysler 300 seats in my fairlane, and man what a difference from the lumpy original bench seat. Maybe 20 yrs ago I could've stood the old seat but my 39 yr old butt needs something better now.

 

Just starting out reading this thread and it's probably one of the best I've seen, definitely subscribing...

 

Josh, it's getting better all the time. I like every thing you have done and when you get it trimmed out it will be superb.

 

I saw this dash panel. It looks simple to make.

 

Working on odds and ends before the body comes off for final paint and assembly work. I made a stock Model A emergency brake fit with a new mount.



First I folded the rear ear over to bolt to the center crossmember.





Then I twisted up a piece of flat stock that tied the crossmember to the front ear on the e-brake. Simple and effective.



Then I notched the floor panel from the handle and Bam!, e-brake action.



After testing some other components it was time to dissemble the body and get it off the frame. My dad was up over the weekend and helped me out.







With the body off I can finish weld all the pieces that are just tacked and unfinished. When setting the tranny up I crudely notched the center crossmember to clear. Time to dress that up.





And in the front.



I plan on finishing, painting, and plumbing the chassis first. Then I'll get the body done and marry the two back up, hopefully by the end of spring.

 

I amazed by this thread every time I check it out. I love the wood floorboards, flea market find? Do you have any plans to stain them black or leave them natural?

 

Yes, swap meet find. They are painted black now. The rear floor will also be wood, but I need to cut it out and paint it.

 

Not too much visual progress lately. I have been working on trying to build a clutch Z-bar linkage. Ordered some parts for that, but still waiting for delivery. I tore the rear suspension all down for sandblasting and final welding.



Also started to work on the engine. It's from a '83 Ford Ranger and I thought it was a 2.3L, but could be a 2.0L. Anyway, starting to clean the engine up and get it ready for paint. I think I'll just be running a Holley 2300 2 bbl for now as jets are cheap for easy dial in.

I cleaned up my front wishbone mounts this weekend. At first I had just used straight up bolt on mounts on the outside of the frame. The more I looked at them the more I thought they needed some reworking.



So I wanted to make the mounts mount to the bottom of the frame so first thing I did was cut off the portion that hung below the frame.



Then I set it up 90 degrees to the original mount plate.



Then this.



Bam!



Now the mount hides under the frame and looks much better.





And the tires still clear too!

 

Looks 'Mo Better' ! Worth the time and nice fabrication.

This weekend I built my clutch linkage. It's a Z-bar made out of 1/2" round stock. Heims make up the pivot points.



The clutch pedal end in place with heim bolted through the pedal mount.





I had to weld an ear onto the pedal mount to mount the other heim.





The clutch fork for the T5 is pulled by a small cable and a pivot on the bell housing. I had a large yoke that fit perfect over the stock Mustang setup.





I have to wait until the clutch and pressure plate are in before I can weld the tranny side arm in the correct location, but here is the linkage looks all mocked up.



I also started on the front shock mounts. I'm using the factory from '36 spring mount as the lower and will cut down a set of F1 mounts for the uppers.

 

Finished up the shock mounts. Pretty simple and should be strong.



Bam.







And that's it.

Nice "A" closed cab, I particularly like the louvered visor....but then I'm biased some.............great progress on the build, your thread is one of my sources of inspiration to "git movin' ".

Well, let's see...the stock market was up, but down today. Chance of thunder showers in the afternoon. My buddy just had his first kid. That's all the updates I can think of right now.

Oh wait, you mean on my car? Hold on....
