Glad this thread is back on top! i must have missed that packard. That car is perfect! thanks for posting rik!
Here are two photos from the Johnny Zaro photo album that Justin Kudolla did not use in his Custom Cars 2012 Annual book. Justin interviewed Johnny Zaro for his book and used a great number of photos from Johnny's fantastic 1940's Custom Car photo album. But there was not enough place to put all the photos in the book. So now he is sharing the "left overs" with us Custom Car enthusiasts. Great low angle front shot of Johnny's 1940 Mercury And an also great frontal photo, but from a higher point of view of Johnny's 1941 Ford Convertible. Both customs where built by Barris. Sam did most of the work on the 1940 Mercury, while the 1941 Ford was mostly built by George Barris.
Can you believe I had never noticed the abbreviated hood on Johnny's '41 before!? I don't need to repeat how beautiful these two cars were... -Dave
Ya this one really gets me going,I think it's the combination of that fadeaway with the O so perfect stance. Yes it is a straight up panty dropper,I can just imagine pulling into Balboa easter weekend with some Kay Starr playing..............Game Over.
Not too bad, basically the c notch bottom is at the top of the original frame rail. then a new straight cross member across and a triangulated 4 bar and Airlift bag over shocks. Stock gas tank is still in its original position. Still have some finishing work but we are getting there. Thanks for the kind words.
