Most of this SanBerdoo history I come across comes from a good friend of mine Jerry Stohler, he's Jim Harber's neighbor today and you can catch them at a bunch of shows on this coast. Yesterday Jerry sent me this shot of "Scotty's" roadster which was voted Best Appearing Roadster by the SCTA in 1947. Scotty of Scotty Muffler fame for those of you who didn't catch the reference.
I was reading through a copy of the first issue of the SCTA news Dec 1938 and there is mention of a club meeting put on by the Gophers at which home movies were shown of the Muroc and Harpers meets of 1938. I had heard rumblings of this footage before and that at least a few people have a videotaped copies. I'm aware of the film that was lost in a home fire at ??? his name escapes me at the moment, but this seems to be another source. Anyone seen it, have a copy etc...
A quick note on acorn nuts; there is a pic of Mal Ord's '32 roadster in '41 with acorn nuts on his cylinders heads. Is there a little solid evidence that they were used pre-war? Stay tuned the photo could be dated wrong.
........... on stove-bolt chivvy motors and headlight mounts all the way back '31, maybe even earlier....................
Great additions Jimmy! If you happen to come across a belly tank at the 1949 Bonneville meet keep an eye out for the Hersom Bros. #139 tank. I am still in contact with Chuck Hersom and would love to share photos with him. Would you mind sharing a higher resolution of Emil's streamliner shot with me for my Gaters picture collection? Here is another shot of Emil's streamliner at Elmo.

You might enjoy these photos of a '32 roadster with a "Bob Lee" top. The roadster is owned and has been rebuild by Don Waite. He has owned the roadster for over 55 years. As with all Don Waite cars, it is beautiful.

This roadster had a Bob Lee made top back in the 1950s. The old top was taken apart and a new top constructed to the exact dimensions of the original. The top was built by Tom Sewell of Cambria, Calif. Tom recorded the measurements which would allow him to make more copies. He also did the interior of the '32. Tom is known for uphostering many important hot rods ( Doane Spencer, etc. ). His work is top quality.

Bob Lee uphostered most of the nice hot rods in the Pasadena area thru the 1940s and 1950s. He did excelent work and it stood out above most others.

Don www.montgomeryhotrodbooks.com

Just off the ferry from Sweden to Germany for a great 1000 mile roadtrip to a hot rod meeting a few weeks back. 1946-style roadster, 1949-style coupe. (F is for the 1/8 mile racing cl*** we raced. Stands for F(lathead). Coupe won the cl***... )
It doesn't belong in THIS thread. that's how it is. I like the car for what it is but what it's not is a 1940s styled hot rod.
Really enjoy this thread to the MAX. Heres my feeble attempt to fake a car that coulda run under the Russeta Timing rules.....-Weeks Little bit better shot of the whole car here...... And if anyone wants to disagree or say its not you can speak to me at the other end of a 50 cal.
For a Model A Ford....got two carburetors on a Sting manifold"...hahaha Love that roadster. Perfect Rat
Andy that thing looks killer with the posts leaned back. It wasn't like that before right? That thing is perfect man. I want it!!!
Greeting's all. This is for a bump BTT and a question for all out there. Does anyone have a copy of the 1949 Hot Rod Pictorial by Veda Orr? I heard that a picture of my Model A Roadster is in this copy with the #660B. It is a four banger with a long tail pipe out the p***enger door. Would somebody mind posting or emailing me a copy if they have this version? I would really appreciate it. Thanks a bunch, Chris chriseichert@mac.com
Somehow I knew it'd be you that'd send it. How cool is that???? I wonder who's sitting in the driver's seat, HA! Emil has the GATERS plaque on the side of the streamliner down at the bottom. That's cool!! Hey I really appreciate it. I'll have to put these with my collection. Thanks!!!
Talk is cheap buddy! Jimmy jumped all over my request. Seriously, I remember the conversation but I thought you had found a picture of Calori's roadster for Crewl. At that time I wasn't sure which book it was in until this week. For a bump and to stay on topic, I am adding these photos for the post. This speedster is Primo and it ran just as good as it looked. The last photo is some smart *** breaking the rules....again!
amazingly beutiful! absolutly love it! makes me want a model A real bad!....then again, who dosent...
