  2. That roadster is Don Waite's. If that is April '49 it was the first time out after the rebuild.

Great thread, I did notice very few dropped axles or even reversed spring eyes. Is there any wisdom in mixing wire wheels with steelies or just amatter of using what you had? where are the whitewalls?

You have to remember there wheren't many publications out during the "40's, so most built with a trial and error type of engineering. Dropped axles cost money that could be spent buying heads or intakes or cams. In short it was more about speed than fit and finish during the '40's. A Hoover paint job was the norm for most cars if they got repainted at all. Not many primered car the either. Just weathered stock paint. Rims and tires where what ever lookd like it would hold air at the local shennies.

Well, thats not my Uncle in Laws name ...I think this is a different car.

  13. Different car to Don Waite's? Nope that car is Don Waite's T. The only other roadsters similar to Don's at that time was Herman Felts & Ray Brown. Herman's car had a different engine cover split wishbone and Ford 5 on 5 bolt wheels on the front.

  14. As you can see Don's T changed a bit from '48 to '50 when it made the Sept '50 HRM cover Don's T continued to evolve into the 1950s.

Most amazing thread on the HAMB!
Here's mine but I take no credit for the way it looks. The roadster came from Culver City it was built by a fellow HAMBer who runs with the Reelers CC.

Quick note!! THe Longley's used the Weiand Cheaters on the Pete Henderson Roadster as well as the Crawford and Stroner Roadster in place of the Denver Heads they Actually used. The Weiand Cheaters I believe did come out later but I love them so I'm still using them. SHit if they're good enough for the Longley's they're good enough for me!

That's an awesome shot. Those are post-war uniforms. I'm guessing 1947-49?

  27. How about the latest score....? Runs a 37 21 stud, PM7, dual 97s, undropped heavy 32 axle, top loader 3 spd, late 32 rear with 3.54 gears, mech brakes.

Plans include black 25 louvre hood, 18" rear wires, Henderson roadster styled top and some engine mods.
