Folks Of Interest 1940's race car driver Jim Carroll

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by eightballgrifter, Oct 26, 2020.

  1. Hi, I'm looking for any info on an old race car owner driver by the name of Jim Carroll. From the little I know he owned and raced x3 Hillegas cars, a midget, a sprint car and an Indy roadster, and was actively racing from the late 30's into the 40's.
The reason for my search, is similarly to Ryan's post from 2016 I have been lucky to stumble across what I've been told is the wheel from his '39 Indy roadster. The guy I bought it from was a friend of Carrolls which is how he came to have the wheel. I've asked for more info from him but as yet have not had anything more. At a guess Jim would've been racing mostly around upstate New York, but I can't confirm this for sure. I'm yet to get the wheel through the post but from the pictures it looks to be a nice early Bell wheel. I'll post some more info when I get it but was curious to find out more about this old racer if anyone has anything.
    Thanks,
    James.
