Hi All, A buddy told me about these headlights with the signal light above them. I love the look of them, but haven't been able to find an image any better than this one. Do these types of headlight arrays appear on any other makes/models? Any thoughts on 'em? Thanks.
Yes, up into the 60's I believe. Often it will be referred to as an upper fender trim bezel or some concoction of those words, were you to be shopping for them.
Thanks, patmanta. I was, and couldn't get any kind of search results. Thanks! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Sure, NP, there's a ton of them out there once you know how to search them if you're limited to internet shopping.
After a weekend of searching every conceivable combo of these words (and a few others for good measure) I've only been able to find a diagram of a '62 Corvette that indicates this as a "headlight bezel extension" but zero images of this. Any ideas or specific models other than the '41 Buick Roadmaster that has this array, or something similar?
Just find a book that shows every make/model of cars in the 1930s & 1940s and you'll find plenty of them. I don't know which ones off the top of my head but there were more. Sometimes the headlight bezels contained the upper running lights and sometimes they were a separate piece. I recommend "Cars of the Fascinating '40s" and "Cars of the Classic '30s" but there are plenty of other books that show each car year-by-year. British cars had them in the 1950s - Jaguar XK 120/140 for sure and lots more. They were often molded to the body but it's a separate metal stamping. (I only know this because my dad had a '57 XK140 for a while that needed restored.) If you don't want to buy a book or go to a library or bookstore, you could just google image search for a couple hours, working your way through each manufacturer year by year?
Yes ,first year for that style 41 buick as mine is a 1941 special . Also open the latch for the hood so it will close not good for the lead latches . Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
