Built all the brackets to replace the ratchet straps. Painted the subframe, brackets, Dodge frame and put it all together.. Pics soon... Did an initial lay out the LS1 wiring. Looks like I'll probably add 3 or 4 feet to all the engine harness wires. I can place the PDC and ECM outside under the hood as they were in the Corvette and everything else in the cab.

Battery placement still TBD.. I'd like to be able to get to it without tilting. My goal is to have all the basics available w/o tilting the cab. Most of this involves just running things like coolant overflow, WS washer, oil fill, dipstick to the front behind the grill. Some are easier then others, of course...

Thoughts on extending 20 something wires? I'm thinking donor harness I can pull the same color wires from and using heat shrink of some sort. Probably soldered... Ideas??

Grabbed a right angle brake setup from a JY cube van...

Good idea on using a second harness fort matching wires. I crimp on bare metal **** connectors (radio shack), then solder the connection and lastly melt shrink tube (westlake Ace hardware) over the wire and **** connector. You will have room behind the seats that you could use for the ecm. That is where all my wiring and fuse panel are located.

You can use those leftover staps to tie your battery down...HA!

So what happens when an "un-stoppable force" hits an "un-movable object"?

So kscarguy, what ch***is is under that thing? Engine up front or behind the cab? What did you use for steering? Anymore info on the build would be appreciated.

Those look nice. Good thing about fibergl*** is that it is easy to modify.

I was shamed into doing my own work last night.. I recently met a friend of a friend that's an old school hot rod guy that has some real talent. I showed him the trouble areas where the fenders attach to the cowl and hoped to hire him to make the panels and maybe install them... Instead, he said "these are not as hard as you think". He explained how to do it and told me "You're building this truck, you should be doing this work too".... I know he's right. Oh the shame!

I actually hoped to farm it out not only because I'm such a newbie, but also to have that part of the work run parallel to getting it running...

I know the answer to that. I just got a check from Hagerty to fix it...

With my head hung low in shame, I shuffled into Harbor Freight and bought the best PacRim shrinker/stretcher 102 dollars could buy. I set it up in the vise and made a test piece out of s**** to fix the cowl area... Having never knowingly been in the room with this tool, let alone use one, I was duly impressed! I did a 90 degree angle on a 6 inch piece and shrunk one side to get the same radius as the wheelwell... It actually worked.. WOW.. I started on a real piece and it's coming along...

can't post pics right now to the album for some reason... hmmm...

    Where are you located cholly?

I'm impressed by your whole thread and my coming across it came at a perfect time. I was planning to stop at HF and buy a Pacrim as well. So it works pretty good eh?

re: worked well?? I really don't have any experience to compare it to, but it did exactly what I wanted it to... BTW: Price was marked as 149.00 and when the cashier asked if I had any coupons, I said "No, but I'd be happy to use any he might have". He said, OK, I can make that 112.00.

I wondered where the $112 came from. I'll try your tactic if you don't mind.

I might buy the 36" brake on a stand too.

Did you ever say what your plan is for your truck? Will it be a pickup, rollback, or ?

    Just curious.

Pickup is the end model, but I'm thinking flatbed w/o the sleeper to get it on the road and then add the sleeper and pu bed as time allows..

You'll love the shrinker stretcher. I used a borrowed set to make my boxes and replacement running board splash aprons. You could make your bed using them too. I would invest in a metal saw horse to mount them too. The stabilty helps a lot.
