Hey all, was just sitting here wondering so I thought I would ask . Do you like or dislike the 41 Ford and why or why not? In the last few days, I have been told to not get a 41 because they are "The Pork Chop of street rods" I dont even know what it means but it doesn's sound good. Another person told me that they always hated them because they reminded him of his ex wife because they have such a fat rear end. I have a 41 Ford and I have always loved them due to their styling and being the last civilian pre-war Ford. I know The 42 came out after we were at war and most went to military. If you have had or have a 41 post your pictures. I plan on redoing mine soon, but I want to keep a closer to stock street rod look no chopping no modern style rims something you would have seen in the 40s-50s because I still want to drive it whenever I feel like and the body is too nice to do anything too radical on it. Leave that to the ones that are already beaten up. DJ Weaz
You can't help it if your friends have bad taste picking women. Everybody knows that the 40 is the most desireable but nothing at all wrong with the 41. Good looking car.
Sheesh, everyone knows the "The Pork Chop of Street Rods" is a '38! I think the '41 is sexy as hell. I love the styling. I used to have a bitchin' business coupe and I wish to hell I'd never sold it.
The 41 was and still is one of the nicer offerings from that era,......If you like and have a line on one, I say go get it,.....No matter what others say. In the late 50's, i was laughed at, for buying a 34 pickup,..... Wish I still had it... I think naysayers have an envy thing going on...... 4TTRUK
That doesn't make any sense. Then don't worry what other people think. BUT since you asked, to me the '40 Ford is on of the most beautiful, iconic cars in the hot rod world. The 41 is it's ugly older sister.
I use to hate them because the '40's looked better. But there are so many that you see at car shows, I got tired of them. Now I like the '39's and '41's because you don't see as many.
There was a time back in the 70's when you could not give 35,36,37 fords away fat fendered was a insult and nobody was building them now a 35-36 three windows are the stuff of dreams.Same with 41,46-48 if done tastefully make nice cars.My view on the subject for what its worth
why are you so concerned with what other people think? If that's your criteria on what sort of car to drive, you'd better run right down and get a Camry. Tell me this....exactly what years of cars do these people that are 'straightening you out' on what or what not to own? Are those cars finished, and are they actual hot rods or customs. I've been farting around with hot rods since 1959, and I've never heard any real hotrodder badmouth a 41 Ford or call it a pork chop. You don't need a different car - you need to upgrade your acquaintances. Now...quit fretting over lame-ass comments by one or two dehorns and build it if you like it. sheeeeeesh
I think it's a style that has to be done right to look good ....I wasn't crazy about shoeboxes , either , but after seeing some fine efforts out there , I've changed my mind . Hey , if you like it , that's what matters , go for it .....certainly is NOT a porkchop . T
I am not really an expert as street rods and '41s go. The only thing I have ever had against them is that in my mind that are a heavy car, I like things light. I am probably completely wrong about the weight thing. I do like the grill, I know that is a sore spot for a lot of the fellas but the grill has always reminded me of a smiley face. I like the slope (if slope is the right word) of the roof into the deck on the coupe as well. It is just pleasing to my eye.
Love the Anglias as well and that is a nice one. What I meant by saying that is the person told me I shouldnt have wasted my money or waste any more money on it even though its nice. I shouldnt have gotten it because nobody likes them. I actually swapped a 55 Ford Sedan Delivery for it. every where I went idiots would ask me if it was a hearse. Could never understand it as it looked nothing like a Hearse. They are very rare cars actually, I figure more rare than the 41 Ford. Sears used to use them for their T.V. repair guys as well as other companies used them for things like that or Handymen owned them. most went to the crushers as they werent well taken care of and the street rodders never liked them as a street rod back then so there are very few left
Hey I had both a 41 and a 40 both Deluxe Coupes. Loved them both. Both rode like a dream although 40 styling was my preferred. God I wish I still had them
Just to be clear I would have gotten it either way no matter what anybody thought, because I have always liked them. Yes the 40 is a very very sweet ride, but that doesnt matter because I own a 41. I was just wondering, if everybody thought that way about it I sure don't
41, in my eyes, is one of the best looking 40's Fords made. I love em, always have...and yes, I have people tell me all the time I'm crazy. 1941's are deco in so many ways. You haters can keep your 40's
Chris, that Black drop top is beautiful and exactly the way I would want mine done nostalgic with just hints of customizing. really nice
Count me among those who very much like '41s...........not to the exclusion of other Ford and GM models, of the late '30s and '40s.......there is beauty in all of them. Ray
I love any Ford from the flathead era. I think '41s look great from any angle, in any style, whether tail draggin' custom or hot rod moonshine runner. I have never, ever heard anyone badmouth the looks of a '41 Ford. Pay no attention to what the naysayers say and get to work on your coupe! This should keep you busy for a bit http://www.carnut.com/photo/list/ford/ford41/f41c.html And more https://www.google.com/search?q=194...hFMna2wX29IHoDA&ved=0CCsQsAQ&biw=1280&bih=681
Everybody has their opinion - a lot of people just follow the leader and say something is cool, because thats what they were told and they believe it - without thinking or looking around Well you know the saying, when everyone says something is cool - then that is the time it isn't! The 41s are great cars with very nice style, and in many ways better then the 40 and 39s in roominess, ride and deco-style - you do not have to comprimise, just soup them up and still have a nice riding car, or leave them stock, the car shines regardless. Now my 41 Super Deluxe Club Coupe was my Grandpas souped up ride in 41 till 49 - and now that I have her, she is staying just as Grandpa souped her up. I love the 41s and think their just plain cool.
I have a 48 Coupe and I love the car, but I really think because of its front end , that the 41 is by far the best looking of the 41-48 cars.
