Projects 1941 Nash hotrod

So winter is here, so once again the car comes apart.





Here is what will be taking place under the hood!





Motor still needs some parts to put it together. Gonna smooth the firewall and fix some other things im not happy with. Should be ready in the next couple months!

 

Dude... that motor is sick. Make sure your life insurance premiums are paid up before you light that candle (but I want a ride when I come home for Christmas!!!).

 

Dont worry pete, you'll get one if its back together in time!

hey thx kid you helped me identify the car i got free in a feild now we are buildin a drag car it is a 41 nash 600 coupe

 

if you arnt using your bumpers ill buy them

 

I may be able to help you on a set of 1941 Nash Ambassador sedan bumpers, including guards. Chrome is fair, no rust. Dad removed and replaced with Britz. PM me.

 

This car is bad ass. Its really some inspiration seeing as i'm only 16. Great job man.

Hey '41 builder! Keep up the good work. Keep the rear fenders and their original profile. No other like it even in the "orphan class" that Nashs belong to. I have a '39 2 dr Lafayette with tilt front end, 351 C, '72 Torino running gear & front clip. Might run this spring. I need headlight lens and trim pieces.

 

Id kinda like to see that thing. Sounds pretty wicked. I just used some old ford headlight buckets and welded em to my fenders. Accepts sealed beam headlights, then used some spare chrome trim rings i had laying around. Trim is hard to find for these cars. I have most of mine sitting upstairs

Just read through the whole build thread. Man, you sure put a lot of time and effort into this build. Got any updates/pics?

 

The old fucker hasnt been in the picture for quite a while. Most of the tools are mine. He tried selling the car when i first got it while i was at school.

Ok so here we go again.

Been slowly putting the motor together. Fresh botton end with grooved king mains and clevite 77 rod bearings. Crank turned 10/10 and a new set of JE sportsman rings. Been doing it as money allows. Also using a 283 oilpan that holds 6.5 quarts. Also a fancy set of M/T valve covers and a shiny hat to top it off.



Car lives outside and i havent really worked on it much since before december. Dropped the motor in the frame and hoping to fire it by tomorrow.

That car belongs to my auto teacher Roy Angle. It also uses a modified turkey pot for the ram air.

 

So heres a little update.

The motor runs like a raped ape. I mean GODDAMN, but theres an issue.

My machinist and i had a little talk after i mentioned that i did a leakdown test and my valves are leaking. He say's he did em right, but my motor proves otherwise. Motors gotta come back apart, and im thinkin of leaving the tunnel ram off. Its GOD AWEFUL expensive with the way fuel is rising.

A buddy here in Vanc. WA built one of these years ago and as much as I like the rest of the body the rear fenderwells NEED to be radiused to match the tires. Kick it around. Lookin' good so far. Rich

 

So i got the heads back some time ago from the machinist, and all was well. When it went back together, i decided to leave the tunnel ram off for the purpose of fuel milage. When it ran though holy shit! That motor would flat haul! That is until it started the terrible habit of smoking. Thats right, broke a piston. Was fun while it lasted. The 283 is getting re-ringed and bearinged so i can have a motor for summer. Will update soon as its running again!
