hahaha i totally forgot that it was you who was building the 48 as well! haha. Oh well, I think the taillights you picked look good. Have you decided what to do with the turn signals yet?

EDIT: the turn signals in the front of the car

 

I have a set of 47-48 ford ones coming from MAC monday. I plan to put them where the slots are now. You can see the white dots in the pictures where I still had the mock up templates in place.

 

Those will look nice. Did you see what it would look like with the turn signals out more towards the sides? It might make the headlights not look so crowded towards the center. Either way it will be a really cool car once youre done

I tried the turns out wider and it just made the headlights look out of place more

 

It took me almost 8 hours but I was finally able to fit some new springs up front to fix the turning clearance. It also gave the Olds a nice taildragger stance.

Amazing what a set of wide whites can do for a car...now all you have to do is build some skirts for the rears and you WILL have a tail dragger....!!!

Got the motor running tonight! A couple of gas leaks but nothing we could not fix

It sounds crazy because of the open headers. My tubing and mufflers should be were wednesday.

We were also able to fix the column mount and power steering. We are getting closer and closer!!!!

One issue I still need to tackle! Once the motor had been running a few minutes one of the freeze plugs sprung a leak, as soon as I touched it with my finger it got worse. The plug is totally rotted away and as soon as I put a screwdriver to it a big hole opened up. I do not have room to get a hammer and screwdriver in there to get it out. I am thinking about using a punch and a air palm nailer to try and get in there. ANY OTHER IDEAS? I will post some pictures of the plug location tomorrow.

 

Ive heard that for certain freeze plugs you have to pull the motor to get to them.

once 1 freeze plug goes the others arn't far behind. bite the bullet and replace them all

 

I have heard that before. I just need to get it moving by Saturday. After that I will have time to change them all


I still need to come up with a throttle cable. Any ideas on which cables work with this set up?

 

speedway adapter and a bolt in ball would be the best guess
then a camaro cable and accel petal or a lokar will need to fab the bracket off a q jet maybee

maybee a expandable NAPA rubber soft plug until next week break out the center of the old plug

To get it out use a small punch and hit it towards the block on ONLY one edge until it rotates. Then use a small pair of pliers to pry it out.

Nice car, You're right though a lot of black, the grill and bumper in silver really help to break it up,

what kind of chassis did they use for the build? do you know?

 

Tonight I got the freeze plug out and the new one in! I found a few brass tools that did the trick. I also picked up a throttle cable bracket and I think I have the go pedal all figured out. Brake bleeding and exhaust tomorrow.

 

Not sure on the chassis. I was told 80s Monte Carlo but I am not sure. This car has a 128" wheel base so I don't know

 

I have a 46 Cruzer and I put a 51 pontiac Wheel in it. easy install bolt in. Also ignore the minions and there negative comments, different is the only way to be. If every one is thinking the same no one is thinking.

Not bad at all. If you can find them, I would add the art deco trims back to the front fenders, next to the headlights. Wheel/tire combo looks really small on that car.

 

The wheels/tires are small but they are the only size that would fit with the fender modifications the last guy did

Lookin good man. Would it really be hard to re-radius the front wheel opening and then run teardrop skirts in the back? It looks much better than before now, but i think if you did that and them put some bigger tires on it would really take the car to the next level.

We brought the car back to the warehouse to get it out of my garage. Now it is time to sell it
