"Decided to chrome paint it since I got tired of looking at all that black"

For paint that looks good....what brand of paint did you use. I got a 51 Olds coupe I'd like to shoot the bumpers with until I can afford chrome.

That was Rust-Oleum Metallic Chrome paint I picked up at the local Autozone

  8. looks like I am the other hamber so i will take over this thread and continue it
bought a lot of parts including a polished intake, new grill with a finish on it! and just got a narower track width 9 in Ford rear end housing

been waiting on doing anything as I have this in a chop contest and hopeing I will win
I put in temp and oil press gauge and found it had hardly any oil press when hot so if i win chop will switch to another engine and drive this fall
a friend is giving me another 455
I am going to pull out a really hot 350 chev and install with a 700 OD and put in air cond when i start. I dont think i can stand the can of worms of putting money in a olds engine
my last winter show car $ losses on ISCA almost wiped me out on $$

I also found out the the brake petal is below the accelerator so I got a fast ride through a stop sign so that needs some work
got a set of 4 bar flippers for front and a set of steel bubble skirts for the rear
I sure am happy about others working on buicks just like this so i can get inspiration on the HAMB:D

Can't wait to see more of the build.

  10. lost the chop contest to a 11 year old kid
been paying insurance and got tags on this so i took it to town and did some gravel damage on the trip in to bottom edges
had flush in this all summer and rad seems to be 50 degreee diference in top to bottom so that may be good
dwell was 10 degrees off and run poor, fixed dwell and changed timing to try to get it to run cooler,
but the water pump is squirting water all over the place and i dont want to spend for a new pump being i am going to a SBC engine reason being i drive all over the usa and dont want a dead olds on a weekend
i will be working on this this winter and have put some bags in the rear coils, not working like I want but will lift car 3 "

turned the steer wheel to end and it slips on the sector splines so should deal with that too

and it sure gets hot inside this car when cruising
did give it a 20 w 50 oil change and flush and it seems to maintain oil press
think it got some coolant in the oil, just dont want to invest in a olds
so thinking on a really hot 350 that i got and a 200 r4 so i can keep the tunel low

found some nice pod lites for the rear think they are off the top of a cad ambulance?? swap meet
got to change brake petal and accel so they dont over lap
tire squealing is not good when stoping and turning:eek:
going to massively insulate roof and floor
    stainless sidepipes
would lke to narrow front if shorter a arms are available for a G body??
    should be a adventure
shure wished i had not bought a ton of stuff for the olds engine,
just another mistake in the custom rod world
better get eady to leave for a show # 35 this year!!!:D

  11. well the 455 turned into a cadillac, dont know where to hide that guess i want a SBC being i tour the usa IF WE STILL CAN AFFORD FUEL:cool:

well i got 2 mirrors on the car so i can see to drive
put on a new water pump and it runs at 208 degrees and looks to have a bad thermostatic fan
threw in a used rug, polished the left windshield glass, polished the dash chrome and fixed the tack too, put the light switch in the dash and burned out the lite fuse for shits and giggles, mounted the hood pull
doing the 2nd rad flush , the block was a dirty mess and is starting to run cooler
put in a power port for the GPS used for a spedo
a lot of chicken shit stuff but it all makes for a better driver
tightened the stering connector, that sliped in the shop when it went to lock end , loose bolt, moved the throttle away from the brake petal, that caused a wild ride once
this pretty much took up the last 2 days and i really want to be getting my big garage door sealed and painted for winter time to shift gears on what i work on:eek:

Nice score I love the way that looks , that looks almost exactly how I was thinking of building mine when I was bringing it home but went in a different direction . Again nice score

  13. well i got the seat tucked n rolled candystripe, photo in my top album, got car outside and tarped too many other projects:)
ordered bag kits for front and rear not exactally sure on using them
found some shorter tube a frames will order someday
got the truck in that i am taking the engine out of for this car it a hot 355 with a ton of cam not sure on tranny 200 4r or 700 if i got lots of room
got a water pump riser so i will have fan at top of radiator
so i am getting parts even if i have not accomplished anything hope to start on it late spring or summer will put the 9 in rear first and do bags on the rear first its hard to get it high enough to drive love the look though thinking on getting a shiney stainless firewall but getting it lasered sounds spendy:D

  15. the car looks physically the same, the seat is not in it and to top that off this old fart just cant get that URL picture thing together
i am getting a 1951 ford ready to go to tulsa and got a 53 chev to completely finish and assemble and paint and just wrenched my back so i got lots to do before i get really into the olds
other that i got lots of spare time:eek:
actually i work on my cars full time, but sometimes get waylaid on more car work, like going to detroit and gettina a vehicle and moving most of them in my shop and warehouse, shoved the model a sedan in the showroom to get rid of it:eek:its a nice car but i dont think i will ever finish it:cool:

  16. put on a new used thermo hub for the fan and have been driving this around our town has oil pressure and don't overheat but the engine had all those old oldsmobile clanks, am still way behind on car work but got the 53 chev to run and a lot done on that
will be working on this car next winter got a lot of the parts bought to start on it
it is starting to be a nice driver:D
