don't know if you plan a chop but if so you could use the extra roof metal so you don't have to lay the windshield down.
You Sir live up to your motto "cut it up and make it work" - nice work on a nice car - keep it up and post all the pics ya can !
You've got a great vision and plan. Taking a***** ugly, ignored body style and making it something the factory should have offered is quite an accomplishment. Looking forward to your progress reports.
I dont have any plans at the moment to chop the roof. I really like the new roof line. I had a gentleman approach me at Meltdown and made the remark-"This how they should've looked from the factory.."
I lost a bunch of pictures when my laptop crashed. I wanted to show how I pie cut the hood and front fenders to narrow them. I took 4" out of each side.
Here is one picture of the front fender with tape on it showing a pie cut to be made. You can see how the rear part of the fender edge is different than the front where the hood would line up. By pie cutting it, the hood line will line back up and fit correctly.
I like what you're doing ... but I can't wait until you post some full on photos .... front, sides, rear etc. It looks a hell of a lot better then factory I know .... just be nice to smell what you're cookin' a little better.
thank you all for the nice comments- I thought I would be crucified for cutting up a 41 Pontiac. Here is the side pic of the body all tacked together. The rear axle is not in the correct location in the pic, but the side view gives you an idea of the look of the car.
Well its a good a place as any. hat are the plans? I'll bet you already told that didn't you. Just read your last post, I can't imagine anyone getting upset if you slice and dice anything on this board. Looks like a good place to start with a project, those old Pontiacs have good line and you would have to try real hard to make them not good.
As the body is all tacked together and I started to look at the floor and trunk, it became very obvious that a full replacement would be needed. But, I didnt have a huge budget for this project. Also, the frame had some rot, and another friend of mine was very interested in using the rear end for one of his builds. So,the original frame was removed and replaced with a S10 chassis. I replaced the s10 rear end with a 1966 Econoline truck 9".
I dont really have a plan, porknbeaner. I am just having some fun, and seeing if I can make this long forgotten rusty mess cool again.
I removed the body once I was happy with all the measurements for the S10 from to body mounts. The floor was pretty bad. Plus the body didnt quite fit the frame as I wanted it to.
