What a sweet body, I was a Kev's house earlier today checking out his coupe. what a score, well keep building.

  4. What the hell ... I can only dream about cars like this and I think I see TWO Willys coupes in one of the pics. If I get a sex change will you marry me?

Hmmm, after calming down a bit I have reconsidered my offer...I am kind of attached to my "dingus" and my "dingus" is definitely attached to me.

    Sweet car.

Yep nice score and welcome to the Hamb Willys community - is there a social group for Willys?

Now you'll have to replace the plastic one in your avatar with the steel one. Rear end needs to come up a bit Kiwi Kev style.

Definitely a rare car and getting rarer by the day. this is one body style that has been "saved" by the glass manufacturers. Sadly (maybe not) I don't think you will ever see a metal reproduction, although there have been a handful reproduced in steel and alumiinum in a "one off" manner.
What are your plans for it?

Nice score! Buying anything in bare steel is the way to go IMO. Is it me or the photo, or has the nose been mounted at an angle, makes the underside look bent. Post progress photos. [IMG]

Steel is real, and you are the proud owner of a Real Steel 41!

That 3300 miles and sickness will be just a memory once you are behind the wheel.

You paid not only in cash but in personal misery. Sweat equity comes later:rolleyes:

Nice score and cant wait to see where you take it.

Looks like it was well worth the trip. Like a lot of others I'd like to know what the master plan is.

Nice! Great to see that the car went to a good home. I watched the car on ebay, couldn't believe it didn't sell the first time out. I agree with you as the wheels need to go. Are you thinking halibrand or some type of vintage magnesium? Are you going to run the BBC? What ever way you go it will be cool just because it is a steel willys.
My 41 also came from just outside of St Louis Missouri, in Waterloo Ill. I have had it for just over 4 years. It to is in raw steel.
Well the best of luck with your project and keep us posted as you go.

Give it some serious thought. Most straight axle Willys gassers ran either magnesium Americans or Halibrands. Anything less would be a compromise. 12 spokes were mostly on altered type drag cars and no provision for brakes. I hope your not thinking of the fake 12 spokes by ET wheels??

I really like the deep radius on the rear fenders.

If you are not going to run period original mags, Real Rodders Wheels have both small and big window Halibrand clones - $$$pendy but beautiful and they can give you a polished magnesium look which you do not have to keep polishing. They also have hidden mount 'spindle mount' wheels which look like Halibrands. These bolt on to the hub from the rear. Only problem is that if you want to take them off you have to remove the hub.

Vintage Wheel Works have 15 x 4" Torq Thrust type straight spokes with a peak and either 15" or 16" diameter rears.

The bolt on 'twelve spokes' from E.T. Wheels are actually ten spokes and I agree with others - they look flat out wrong on a Willys.... on second thoughts, they look flat out wrong on anything!

    ???
    Radir's 12 spokes are 18x3"

Great wheels on the right car (like pictured), but do not belong on a 41 Willys IMO

congrats. You have now added a new member to the family. Can't wait to see the progress and the completion. I hope you build it for the strip. Maybe we can meet up some day and show off.
