History 1941 Willys 4-dr.

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by alphabet soup, Jan 4, 2014.

  1. I ask this question every once-in-a-while. In about 1981 I sold someone a '41 Willys 4-dr. sedan ex/g***er. The car went to southern Maryland. The guy I sold it to already had a yellow '41 Willys 4-dr. sedan street rod. Does anyone remember this guy or these cars? I think the guy might have been in the military. And maybe was from out of state and moved back home. Would love to know what happened to the one I had. Thanks, Gene.

I take it you don't have a picture?

  3. Yes, I have a couple of picture of my car. Primer, gel coat front, etc. And I think I even have a picture of his car somewhere. But I don't have any way to scan them, to get them to here. Might try taking a picture of them and see how that turns out. Gene.

What kind of drivetrain ? There was one on craigslist about a month ago in Connecticut, it was in storage for 20 years with a 396 Chevy 4 speed .

  5. When I sold mine it was less motor and trans. It was set up for a 265 4-spd. That was the way I bought it and ended up being the way I sold it. This is the story the guy who bought it told me. He had bought a 427 and 4-spd. out of a totaled Corvette. He wanted to put it in his yellow '41. His wife liked driving it too much and couldn't drive a stick. She told him to "find another one to mess-up". That very Sunday mine was in the Baltimore Sun paper (the Craigslist of the day) for sale. He came that afternoon and it was gone.

  7. Never did get paint. Was still in primer, red and gray with some black paint showing thru in some spots. A-I front was in gray gel coat and raw on the inside. Stock front axle that was drilled, Olds rear, ladder bars that went up past the cross member. I didn't build the car. Bought it from a guy that had to sell it. I did do a few things to it before I had to sell it myself.
