Hello, I am mounting a 1946 Chevy COE on a 2002 Chevy DRW box van ch***is. I would like to see how many of you mounted your cab to the ch***is. I am thinking of using 68-72 Chevelle body bushings to allow for a better ride vs. how the factory cab was mounted. Thanks for all the help. Tom
I used Speedway motor mounts on my 42 GMC on a 75 chevy drw frame . I can't get photos to load , but you can find them on 42 gmccoe bike hauler build site in 2013 . Good luck !
Mine actually rides great, and my cab is basically mounted hard to the frame with just 1/8" thick rubber washers. I did use 1/2 ton springs on the 1 ton front suspension.
Mine is a Ford so it is probably different from the Chevy... Eight bolts...two bolts at the very back of the cab, two in front of the running board, two U-shaped brackets under the center of the cab and two bolts at the very front. Each is bolted through the top of the frame, except the ones in the front of the running boards, those are bolted through a hanging down body channel and through the running board brackets. Make sure your front wheels are slightly forward (1/4 to 1/2 inch) in the wheel opening and make sure you can figure out a clear steering path...Do not take shortcuts with the steering.
I found factory body mounts very expensive, so I used Hockey pucks. I am from Canada ....eh. Very durable, they absorb vibrations and their cheap.
This is what I did, I'm using a 2003 Silverado ch***is. On the top plate I'm using 1/4" rubber pads with 1/8" rubber pads on the top side of the floor. Rob
Here are some pictures of mounts for my 42 {same as 46} on a 75 gmc dually .Tall mounts in back for sleeper .
Thanks for all they help guys! I think I am a little low in the rear but had to use a shorter body bushing on the rear. I thought what I had was all the same size but I was mistaken. I am unable to load pics here, mine are too big. You can view my pics HERE.
Small progress. I have my engine and transmission tacked in place. Now I will be moving to brakes and steering. Hopefully, I don't have to adjust the cab for either. Any one have ideas for a dash? I was thinking of changing the dash but not sure what to do.
Morning Tom, I just went through your build pictures. Good progress. I also noticed your just a bit down the road from me. Maybe later on I'll cruise down the road and give it a pick in person. Rob
