Hi everyone wanted to share my project with you guys. I was lucky enough to get ahold of this original wrecker that was used locally just a town over from me I have most of the history on it and the Chrysler Dealership it operated out of. The plan is to have it on the road ready for next year.
Well, first off, you've found the right place for your COE truck project, congratulations. A year to finish sounds pretty energetic, I've been working on mine for close to 12 years and am about half done. LOL If I hadn't found a real oddball, (Autocar) I probably would have opted for a Dodge COE of the same series as yours. Don't know how aware you are, but most parts from a conventional will interchange with yours, including the whole cab. The cab sub frame, fenders and nose don't, but a lot more does than most of the other brands. Have fun!
Love the beacon on the nose!! Says the tow truck driver!! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I wondered how much fun that beacon would be at night. You'd have to blink every time it came around. LOL
This is gonna be good, and I want to follow along. Consider me subscribed. I love vintage trucks, but tow trucks and dump trucks the most.
I'm pretty confident I'll meet my goal the only thing I was missing is the seat and I go to get one Saturday along with a good set of wheels and a running engine. After that the only thing left is wiring and finishing what's left to do on the brakes and new tires.
That light is in great shape. Looks like a federal signal and sign co. I have 2 in my collection Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have two counting this one on the truck they're both model 17s and work the other is an amber light.
I thought I was the only one that collected lights. This pic is old. I believe there are 30some here. I now have around 65. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Fantastic project!! The pics from back in the day are really great. I agree, I'm not sure how someone could drive it with the light blinking in their face. Maybe they modd'd the light with a little blocker panel inside...
Had a long road trip, 7 hours there and back, for a truckload of parts that I needed for the truck. Got another engine this one turns over and I'm hoping with a tune up it will run and I can just stuff it back into the truck. Also got a replacement set of six wheels mine were pretty bad off plus I got a seat and the frame which I was missing. I'll get some better pictures soon.
Holy smokes it's a small world. My best friend in college grew up in Uhrichsville/New Philly OH! I think he lives in Gnadenhutten now... Love the project! Have fun with it! JML
