ok, I found a very clean , no rust, 46 dodge truck with motor that ran when parked. I dont see many dodges on here, so I figured I would ask. Its been on display in a restaraunt for 20+ years. floor boards and everything, no rust. interior need redoing of course, but the floor and everything is good. tires are dry rotted from sitting outdoors for the last 5+ years. flat head 6 cyl and standard tranny. I dont know beans about it, where could I start gathering info besides here? I'm an old dodge freak, so its worth a lot to me and I hope to be buying it soon, but real world, how are they priced if one is complete, wood bed and all.? Thanks
Do a google search for "41-47 Dodge pick up". There is a lot of info on the net about these trucks. Several web sites decated to these trucks in both stock form and hot rodded. You can also do a search on here, there is also a lot of info here as well. I have a book titled: Dodge pickups, history and restoration guide 1918-1971" by Don Bunn & Tom Brownell. Very good soft cover book with lots of info. Gene
Thanks, the body on this one is to clean to chop up. The first thing is to get it running and pimp it like it is. It will remain with the factory paint etc.
These cabs were made from 1939 through 1947 in civilian form, and at least through '68 for military Power Wagons. I have a '46. Check and see if the windshield crank and regulator are still operational, these are hard to find but rebuildable.
^^ I know nothing about them, I didnt even know it had a windsheild crank. didnt know the windows opened up. I did a google search and really found little of nothing, lots of links for different sales different dates etc etc, but no real info to rea dup on, what type motor, tranny etc etc, I know squat except that I want it. I'll go look and take some pictures today and post em up. the truck was an original arkansas truck and sat in a rest. there for many years, maybe someone will recognize it. Has old and faded "Daddys Truck" in white script on the doors, truck is black
If you want/need info on these trucks, here is a great place for it. http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/39-47Dodge/ As said before, most of the guys are restorers, but are a great bunch of guys/gals and are willing to help without too much grief about what you plan to do with it. Hope this helps. I have a 40 Plymouth 1/2 and a 41 Dodge COE (cabover engine). Both are being rodded. Enjoy! rod
