Of all the cars I've owned my 46 Ford convertible was probably the one I had the most enjoyment from. Had it the longest as well. Sold it to someone in Bessemer Alabama and never saw it again. Hoping to see a picture of it some day on one of these 46 Ford threads. Gary

Well, gotta admit I'm prejudice. I've had a shitpot full of 46-48 Ford's and Mercs. All coupes with back seats, no business coupes. Now I'm down to 2, a 46 Super deluxe and a 48 Merc.. The 46 is up for sale so I can complete the Merc. Now my problem is the Merc, go kinda custom ( skirts, ww's caps) or stay street rod. Both are sbc's 350 /350. Or sell them both and start another project? Damn, I hate decisions.
I had a pretty nice 46 coupe in 1966. It had an Oldsmobile engine, was painted dark green, had upholstery, and chrome garnish rails. I was 19 years old and got drafted for service in Vietnam. I sold my car to a friend that wasn't particularly mechanical, but liked cars, and had money so a deal was struck. For many years I tried to buy the car back. I placed phone calls, and wrote letters, but there never was an answer. I learned recently that the owner had passed away. I started watching Craigslist and look what I found. What a sorry state my poor old coupe is in. He wouldn't sell it, he wouldn't even talk about it. Now I'm too old to take on a project of this magnitude. I wonder how many old Fords have died because the owner was going to "fix them up some day".
Looks like a real nice piece to start with. Mine was also a 6 cylinder, when we tried to adapt the trans to the SBC it was like the Johnny Cash song, "WHEN WE TRIED TO PUT IN THE BOLTS, ALL THE HOLES WERE GONE". Found out the difference between the 6 and V8 trans real sudden like. Good luck with your TUDOR!!
