Hoping someone can help me with some further history on my recent purchase of a 1946 ford coupe that I brought locally here in Melbourne Australia, I know it was imported here in 2009 to Melbourne Australia going by the certificate of ***le from the State of Michigan with previous owners being Arrow motors and also a previous owner called Michael Robert Kruse from Sturgis? It's a real neat old school hot rod with some definite maintenance needed but will be a great little project for me. Any information will be greatly appreciated.
Hi from Texas. WOW, that is one sweet little Coupe you have. Looks like it is begging to be driven. Wish I had some info on the car or owners but I do not. Just wanted to comment on how nice it looks. You can see from my avatar that I prefer 1946 Coupes although mine is a Chevy. As a child during WW2 & starting school in 1945 I can remember all these new cars emerging for 1946. Lots of great memories there every time I see a 46 no matter what brand. Jimmie
Thanks Jimmie for your compliments, yeah I have always had a thing for 46 fords since I seen photos of one that my good old Dad had back in the late sixties. I also agree with you about it doesn't matter what make, they all look good, I also had a 48 chev ute that was also really cool. Plans for the 46 are just to go over everything briefly, put on some new whitewalls, rims, external mirrors, chrome bumpers and get some registration sorted out and drive it as much as possible....
Have fun with your 1946- I am doing one myself- I'm from MI but know no history on that car- Like your ideas for the car- especially the chrome bumpers-
Thanks for that information 2bubbas, please post some pics of yours when possible. Here's another mocked up picture that another mate done of it parked beside my A model roadster....
Date I purchased and drove home 258 miles- 1st year did brakes/exhaust/suspension front and rear/15 rims and tires/rechrome bumpers- How it looks now- All exterior trim going back on- hot rod- SBC/3-speed/ 9 inch Ford rear-
Looks real good 2bubbas, bet you cannot wait to be back driving it again. I managed to find this manifold adaptor in my collection of hot rod **** last night, so I have decided to try it on the flatty. It's currently got a 4 barrel manifold with an adaptor made to convert it back to a 2 barrel Rochester carby that over fuels and is a nightmare to try and tune. So I have just pieced this adaptor together today to run twin 94s that I had as spares. Hoping it will run and look better with this.
I was hoping someone knows who built it last and what work was done to the motor etc? How along ago was it's last refresh? Why did the owner sell it and how long did the last owner own it for? Any info or history would be great.
Yeah tried that, they must not have been off that car? Plus I was trying to chase the history of the build, who did it etc and what was done? This is what it will look like with whitewalls, I will bead blast the rims first.
I'm confused. Are you saying you're going to run those wide whites on slot mags or do you have some steel Ford wheels to blast?
Nah still plan on steel wheels, same thing just need to get them, I have some coming but they might not make it in time for the roadworthy so I might blast the the slotted rims and fit some older whitewalls I have already just to get it p***ed on the roadworthy? The tyres on those mags are not roadworthy, they were to old and had some cracks in the walls.
Surely someone out there knows of this coupe and can share some info about it? Here's the latest pictures of the motor updates. New offy manifold, carbs and a tappet adjustment has now been done.
Thanks FB. It's been a slow process but it will be done properly so hopefully trouble free cruising in the future...
