Hi I thought I would post a couple of pics of my new car, its a 1946 Ford coupe sedan (I think), I bought it of a local guy who brings a few cars in from the USA to on sell. Mechanically seems pretty good, Body is OK but sills/rockers need replacement. I will be using Koolkemps method for replacement of the sills/rockers. The car may have come from a Guy named Dennis Oaks in Thomaston CT as it came with a Macs catalogue addressed to him. Anyone know this car? I would love to get some history. Regards Brendan

I have a '47 coupe sedan, and yes, that is the proper term for one. Coupe body but with a full back seat. Mine has stock 59AB flat motor, 6V electrics. Plan to do some period correct mods to it as time and finances allow. I've always liked the parking lights, trim (side and deck lid) and gauges on a '46. Here's mine

I have never heard of those referred to as a coupe sedan. So... is the short door coupe version referred to just as a coupe or does it have another proper name?
The long door models are usually referred to as sedan coupes or club coupes while short doors are usually called business coupes.
Hopefully it will cool down enough soon so I can have a good look at it. its been in excess of 43 deg C all week, and going to be 44 today (111 deg F) Brendan

The roof line is different then the business coupe short doors to have head room/leg room for the rear seat. I went and looked at business coupe with a back seat and it was CRAMPED. My '47...
Sweet 46. I live in Arizona and it is not uncommon to have temps like that for a couple of weeks during the summer.
Any colour that is laid down on a late 40's Ford coupe haha. They are such awesome cars. I know everyone loves the '40 coupes the most.. but man.. they are such a rarity over here.. i'd happily take any of the Ford coupes from '28 through to '48. They are all such awesome looking cars.
It cooled off enough today so I could get a look at the coupe, I thought I would have a look at the wiring, Hmmm 12 volt battery 6v generator I think, lots of loose wires under the dash, but it starts and the lights work, gauges also seem to work I think a resistor has been put in line to make things work. I printed out a wiring diagram but the wire colours are hard to read, I suspect it was rewired in the past and my new wires don't match the colours of the ones I can read. Anyone have a clear diagram? Brendan

I have the hard cover copy of 'FORD V8 SERVICE BULLETINS" .... "1941-1948 COMPLETE" .... published by Lincoln 1998 and on page 268 it shows Bulletin 15999 which is the 1945-7 V8 Wiring Diagram with a Schedule of Wire Colors and Gauges ....the wire gauge listings for the circuits may be very helpful. The previous page 267 has a more detailed style wiring diagram also showing wire colors. If you would like, I'll scan either or both pages and send them to you. Dan
