This pickup has a great look, it truly turns heads and starts conversations wherever it goes. Even though it looks lowered and has a great stance, the suspension is all OT stock late model ch***is and retains full suspension travel so it doesn't ride like its lowered. These "Jailbar" pickups are getting to be harder to find. This has been my daily driver for the past 3+ years. The pickup body is mounted on a late model 2wd LWB ch***is, powered by a Ford 2.3 Turbocharged (Lima) engine, 5 speed manual transmission, power steering and power brakes. The wheelbase and wheel track dimensions were paid attention to, are a good proportion and close to the stock '1942 - '1947 Ford pickup dimensions. The cab floor is in good shape, the lower leading cowl sections are not butchered up for this ch***is unlike the S10 swaps I've seen. The only real modifications to the cab is the sectioned floor panel required for the kick-up in the Ranger frame rails. The work is all hidden under the seat, the back of the cab is notched. No body work was done, none of the farmer scars were covered up, just shot a quick coat of off the shelf Omni gray to give it some measure of protection. The cab and front clip are 1946 Ford Pickup, while the step side box and rear fenders are from a 1947 International KB series, the box (tailgate more than anything) is fairly rare being a KNOX piece and stamped as such. The box was shortened at the rear and tack welded, it will need to be finished. While the the KNOX tailgate flat panel and stamping are usable the upper and lower horizontal tailgate tubes are rusted out and will need to be replaced. The bed floor framing is welded steel square tubing, topped with a sheet of plywood (it was made for hauling parts). The rear cab corners and lower cowl corner are rusted out on both sides, patch panels are available from a couple suppliers. The lower p***enger door has rusted through, a good spare p***enger door is included in the price. The original gas tank filler hole in rear of cab has not been filled. All the gl*** was new as of 3 years ago - however - the p*** side door gl*** cracked shortly after installation. The original gauges and speedometer are NON-functioning, the working gauges are mounted under dash and include water temp, oil pressure, volts mounted. The pickup has a working vintage turn signal switch and a rebuilt vintage heater mounted underdash. The black vinyl bench seat is comfortable but nothing to look at. The transmission tunnel NEEDS metalwork attention, the last round of shaping warped the leading edge. The original 1946 under seat fuel tank has been removed and the area used for jack/tool/tie down storage. While the stock late model parking brake cables and yoke are intact, the parking brake handle and interior ***embly are missing. There is no windshield wiper, rainex works well on the new gl***. This set of tires are Firestone Destination AT with less than 5,000 miles, mounted on 15" Wheel Vintiques wheels with trim rings and caps. The motor runs good and the transmission shifts easily, but you can tell they both have miles on them. I have been chasing an intermittent cold/hard start after the truck sits overnight and an ECT code but have failed to sort either out. Neither keep me from driving it daily. This truck has made the 300 mile round trip run to the AST show each year without any failures. If you are into hot rods, rat rods, street rods or customs you know they need attention to be a daily driver. This pickup was built as a parts chaser, bike hauler, beater and after 3 years could use some sorting. Valid Montana ***le. Additional parts include Truck front fenders, inner front fenders, nose cap and p***enger door. I have 20+ pictures posted in the slideshow, if you want pics of something specific, just ask. I've done my best to describe this pickup and have not tried to hide any of its flaws. Please feel free to contact me with additional questions, the truck is available for local inspection. The truck is for sale locally. I can store the pickup, make me a legit offer and we will talk about how long/how much.
