Great, I have the Posies springs in a box waiting for me to start on my project. Did he use the adjustable front mounts or the fixed ones?
Great night out tonight even though it was in the upper 90s we still had fun. After visiting and hanging out at the cruise we went and grabbed a bite to eat a local pizza place then took the scenic route home and stopped for a photo.
Now here’s the trick you need to master when it’s hot hot out. close the cowl vent, roll up all the windows. Roll your back windows back, not down. So they have the vertical opening at the b pillar now point your drivers vent window roughly at the passenger door glass and vice versa. Anything over 45 mph and you’ve got the best non turbulent cool air bouncing from the wing window, off the door glass and back out. It’s fantastic
Will definitely need to try this!! I’ve ran cool mornings as a stocker with just the vent windows open and loved it! I could see how it would work!!! Thanks for the tip!
Hey Ethan, I just finished catching up on your thread. such a great read and an even better build! I love the car and it sounds great you get to experience all this with the family. Im definitely following along and cant wait to see where you take the car from here.
Thanks for the kind words! We have enjoyed it so far. I’ve had several cars over the years and this is one that the whole family has been either involved in owe with in some sort or fashion. My girls are coming around to enjoying it now that it’s done. And my wife is glad I’m done for a bit on throwing money at it. But most of all I’m excited to enjoy driving it around with my kids and chasing my mom and dad around on the weekends. Hopefully next year we can expand our trips beyond SW Mo. I’ll keep you guys posted on our journeys and more progress on the car as it comes.
Well the end of summer didnt go as I had planned. I had a few small bugs that I figured would show themselves to be addressed along the way. But I had one gremlin that I just couldn’t find. I knew it was problem in the ignition system but could never pin point it. Seemed when the system got warm it would either cut out or die all together. Sometimes it would start right back up others it wouldn’t until it was cooled off. Then at the end I had lost spark all together. I feel like an idiot as a simple SBC was kicking my rear. Replaced points and condenser and coil. Thought that would fix it but no none of that was the problem either. After racking my brain around it the ignition switch came into mind. It was new but maybe there was a problem there? Quick check under the dash found that the wire that goes to the coil was loose and arcing on the stud. Hence my loss of power once warmed up. Took it all apart and cleaned it up and put it back together. Safe to say it was something as simple as a wire not being tight. I almost didn’t post about this but thought maybe someone could learn from my short comings of thinking I had double checked everything. but on the bright side since finding it and correcting that issues we have put over a 150 trouble free miles on it. Here’s a nice fall photo from this morning. Should be ready for next year and finish up some fall cruising
thanks Tim! I was about to feel like a SBC was going to defeat me! It feels good to have it going. I wouldn’t be afraid to go anywhere now. I do need to re gear the rear end though she’s pretty high geared! Next years project haha
Not really much of a current update but had to get it out of the shop to put up Christmas decorations and thought I would take a few snow photos. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and hopefully we all have a wonderful new year cruising around in our hot rods.
Traditionally we don’t get much snow down here. Or at least anything to make for a cool photo. But the last two years we have had at least one good snow. did you get yours going yet @Tim
This has been a great journey. Full of fun and excitement along with headache and frustration. We had been getting ready for the SWMO hot rod hundred when the transmission lost all but first and reverse. Digging into we found that the governor was broke. With my work schedule I was gone for work all last week. My dad tore the car apart and got it back and going in time for this weekend. With a few shake down miles on it we loaded up for the hundred. Two of my youngest kids along with @BenD with my parents in their 34 sedan leading the way. Car did great the whole way. After we got done with that we headed off for another local cruise and grabbed the oldest daughter to go with us. All in all 301 miles round trip. Love this time of year!
With your opening sentences, I thought you were going to say the car was heading down the path to a new owner...glad you're still having fun.
Funny you say that. My boy who’s 5 said it would need a new owner if it had any more issues! I told him that’s part of it and half the fun!
Sorry I barely even got a chance to say hi yesterday Ethan. Car looked good and it was good seeing you and the family as well.
We had a great time! We was running a tight schedule to be able to fit in all we had planned but got it all in. Sorry we didnt get more time to chat!
Just saw the tag! Sorry for the late reply I got it around the block a few times but then had more small issues. Hopefully Get a lap around the neighborhood tonight
