Technical 1946 steering wheel horn ring wiring on 40 column

Hi, How do I make this work? I believe the horn wire is supposed to screw on the horn ring but how does it ground out to trigger the horn? I also see other horn wires for this year wheel that look like the 1940 wire I have right now. Then some seem you push the center to trigger the horn but is mine, pushing the outer ring? The spring I have is too small for the hole as well. Are there parts I’m missing?

12v negative ground in case that matters.

Im probably overthinking this. Please help.

 

The horn wire screws onto the screw in the outer ring. There is supposed to be a spongey rubber piece between the inner piece and the outer ring. When the ring is pressed it contacts the inner piece and beeps the horn.

Thanks. Looks like I need to get that rubber piece and run a new wire.
