I've just posted a 1946 Studebaker M Series Custom Pick Up that a friend is selling, I have it listed in the classified section for him: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=693389 But I thought I'd post a few photos of his build of the truck, this project took 5 years of hard work and over $240,000 invested in the bodywork, paintwork, interior trim, potent V8 engine and three-speed automatic transmission which are all in "show condition". If I didn't have so many project on the go I might be tempted.
$240,000? Really? He will never get anything close to that back! What a bad investment if that number is correct. Not knocking the build, it's very nice, just way to much $$$
That's the figure he told me...but restorations always cost more than the vehicle is worth...don't they. If he wanted to make money on a restoration there are better projects out there to do that...I think it was always something he wanted for himself, but for whatever reason it's up for sale now. Besides he's not asking for $240,000 back, he's asking $75,000. Over the past 6 years I must have spent about $40,000 on my 50 Mercury and it's no where near ready, and not worth anything like the money I have in it. But is it a bad investment...only if I sell it now I guess. But I didn't buy it to invest money, I bought it to restore and enjoy. So I wouldn't say it's bad investment if your not going to sell the car
