If I was to do it over again I would pinch the hood from the back to the front to match the nose of the car hood. I would not flatten the nose like I did it to match the pickup hood width.

Just came across this thread and I have to give Kudo's. That looks really good, flows well, very easy to look at. Its definitely looks like something that could have come from the factory.

So just curious ...do/can you drop an original axle for one of these trucks?

Thanks Jalopy45. I can drop the 46-47 pickup axles up to 4" overstock. I think 4" is to much. My 47 shop truck has a 3" dropped axle with Posie Dual-flex springs. It drive and rides good.

You said above that you think 4" drop on these axles is too much, is that just personal opinion because of the look of the vehicle sitting that low, or does it create problems? I have a 47 Ford truck myself, and have removed some of the front leafs, which softened the ride up a bit, and gave me some drop, but I'm at the limit of how low I can go with springs, because my bump stops are only about 1.25-1.5" from the frame now. I really love the look of the really low trucks, and want to go lower, for sure, however I do it. I'd love to keep the truck's 'old' styling and looks, so it'd be awesome to keep a beam up front, if I could get it lower like I want. The stock axles on these trucks, as you know, have some drop built in, but when you say 4" over stock, you do mean an additional 4" more, correct? As in if I bolted one into my setup right now, I'd gain 4 MORE inches of drop? Sounds awesome, to me, if so, as long as I could use tie rod drop blocks, or drop tie rod ends, and get everything hooked back up, and it drive decent. What's your take on that, is it something possible to do? What about drag link? What problems do you foresee me running into?

The 3" or 4" dropped axle will lower your truck 3" or 4" from were it is now. You don't use tie rod drops on the 46-47. You heat and bend the steering arms like you do for the early hot rods. I offer that service if needed. A 4" dropped axle tie rod is close to the spring and your into the scrub line. For the drag link I reversed the tapper in the pitman arm and put the tie rod on the top side of the pit man arm.

There was a dark blue one at the NSRA Nats from southern Indiana. Its super looking. Putting a car front is something Ford should have down.

Thanks for the reply, and, by the way, your truck looks awesome. Wish my frontend looked like that. Anyway, speaking of the scrub line on a 4" dropped axle, isn't that dependent on the wheel/tire combo you run? I was really leaning towards 17's or 18's, and not sure on the tire size yet. I'll have to do some measuring to figure out what I can run, and what height certain tires are, etc... Could you give pricing here, or is there pricing on your website for dropping my axle vs. purchasing one already done, and are they exchange? I would also like to know the cost to bend the steering arms.

Hey Steve why not do what 55 Mercury did and put a 47 Ford clip on your truck but customized to match your '47 Ford, grill and all? That'd be cool!
