All, after reading in a number of locations to double check the bolt holes for the steering box, it was found to have some anticipated cracks. couple questions on the repair process:
    1) Can it be done well enough on the truck, or do I need to look at removing the piece to correctly fix it.
    2) In welding the crack, I am right in drilling the end of the crack to stop it right?

Cut that cracked piece out and weld in a new piece of steel, then drill the hole for the box. You don't want to try welding all those cracks!

Any way to add new piece and a new piece to the outside with a sleeve between the two ?

The cracks also get to the frame. One issue I see of putting a new piece in, notice the holes, the holes protrude/stick to the outside of the frame.
Me? Drill a hole at the end of the cracks in the frame. Slight v, fill and weld a thick washer around the hole.
