Thanks for the info. I was thinking that I would get a repro Mullins for my '36 Ford roadster but I always wanted to build a teardrop. I think my set up could handle towing that OK. I have the issue from Tex Smith's Hot Rod Mechanix where they published plans.

The tonque weight is a little over 100 lbs. I carry a heavy duty marine battery in the kitchen and keep the ice box full to counter act some of this . I pull it with a model a hot rod and a 1956 VW Beetle....

  4. Bubba- that is a bad-*** setup. I bet that big Jimmy really moves and doesn't even know it has the little trailer there. I like extended cab too, I peaked at your profile but do you have more pics of that truck posted here? Thanks , Greg

I will dig some more pics up.
The GMC is a 322 incher and pulls the trailer really well. Four speed and quick change ......

Guys the trailer tongue latch looks a little suspect and I want to replace it but also want to retain the original id plate shown in photo, any ideas are welcome. Sorry for sideways picture.:(

a little suspect??? that's the understatement of the year.

i'm pretty sure i won't have any ideas you haven't already thought of, but:

    1. reuse the entire triangular piece, even if it's only decoration over a new piece the same size underneath it and acting as the structure,

    2. cut out the part of the triangular piece exactly the size of the id plate; make your new tongue with a flat plate doing the same job that the existing triangluar plate does; drill some holes in the new flat piece; spot weld the removed tag from the bottom through the holes.

Nothing wrong with what you have for a hitch. It's a Fulton number 908 hitch , casting. All you need is the missing latch parts. Way mire trailer sales here in Indy sells that hitch. At the factory in 1946-47 etc they took a Fulton 908 , split the sides on a band saw heated it red hot and hammered it around the tubes. I have done a few of these, just sand blast the tongue, install the missing parts etc.
I could probably find the parts here locally if needed........Dan sutton might have a couplets 908 he could part out............

Good to know and I do need the parts then to make this hitch work. Are these a 2" setup?

I know, thanks. Good info. Mine is missing the little clamp that goes around the ball too.

    Mine is 1-7/8"

Is anyone familiar with Fulton couplers? And for the record I have made the calls to GMC BUBBA and Dan Sutton here on the HAMB and asked them. What I found is the coupler repair parts I ordered don't seem to work, they were for a A8 2" Fulton coupler and when I was checking things out I noticed in faint stamped letters : A-6 Fulton coupler, is anyone familiar with this coupler? Thanks.

Sent you a text on your phone today after we talked. I went ahead and purchased 2 of the Fulton 2" from Waymires today. Will pick them up on Monday.

I noticed that too when I was going to order the repair parts, but I just found a whole 1-7/8" coupler on egay for like $15. I'll still have to modify it, but at least I have it now...

Ollin my coupler has the stud coming up from underneath and the square locking mechanism on top. Dan Sutton has the original style instead of the latching style they use on newer trailers.
