I love how on the green ford, he brought the hood line down as far as it could go, i LOVE all the early customs, but one hiccup for me was when they made the hood line go straight across and make an area of unused space that looks like it might be a hood or the grille that should be there taking up space.... im not dissing the other style, id take one and love it to its fullest in a heartbeat, but its just cool to see it the other way for a change.
both cars are great.. yes , just like it should be.. the true blue kustom no matter you look at it, is an antique.! somthing that was being done over 60 years ago.. and to really bring it back is to do the car you have to the era of the car.. and if you stay in that area the car always looks better... nice pics
I hope you dont take this the wrong way, and I can appreciate the amount of work that has gone into this car, but every time I look at it all I see is a boat`. Maybe its just the way the guards pontoon out either side. I know the say that beauty is in the eye of the beer holder, but Ive had at least 14 beers and I just dont see the beauty!!!, juts a boat !!!
id like to see what 1951 streamliner has for a kustom.. ? there has been some nice cars on this thread .. very cool to see people into real kustoms....
I will be posting pictures of it hopefully in the next two weeks. It is by no means a radical custom, but im hoping it looks "right" when Im finished. I "finished" it about 4 months ago, but was not pleased with how it came out, so im completely re-doing it. Does anybody have any more beautiful customs to show in the mean time??
Well i feel like im beating a dead horse... but back to the top! Seems like customs aren't very hot on the hamb.. I will be posting pictures of my car in the next few days.
I think this would fit to this thread as well. Kustomrama Styling Studio #3 - 1937 Cadillac Click Here: http://www.kustomrama.com/index.php?title=Kustomrama_Styling_Studio_no._3_-_1937_Cadillac -
Have you built a new car, Janne? Nope, I am afraid it doesn't fit in here since it's a non exististing car, just a fantasy. I do want real cars here. Can it really be that there are no kustom cars in this style being built anywhere? Incredible, really. My new project will fit in this thread, but it is years from being finished. All stock now and not even shipped from the US yet. I think you will like that one, Janne. And I might need your great feeling in design through the process.
I will be posting pictures of the re-incarnation of my car at the end of the week. I think the only thing thats might not be "era-correct" is the fact that i left the hood trim and trunk trim on it.. because its what makes it a Pontiac and its a pain in the ass to fill the hood!
Very nice, clean looking car, but the Fiesta's, underdash A/C, and tilt steering column date it later than 48-52...
Yeah, that's my new car. Right! Ok let's keep it with real cars. Yes there is being built cars for this style but many of them are progressing slowly. Can't wait see what are you coming up with this time.
Dave Mc, with some bias plies, earlier hub caps, and skirts your car would look a lot better IMO.. (or at least fit the era we're aiming for here). I would also raise the front a little bit. As for the interior, all it needs is a period steering column and wheel, and to lose the visible air ducts. Cool car though! The body looks really good.
OK, I inherited the 48 from my Brother at his passing, the Lancer wheel covers have been popular for many years, the Skirts are not on in these pics as it was winter weather when the pics were taken, the air ducts were the first thing I removed, also the funny red/white plastic knobs are gone ,other than that,I will probably leave the car as I recieved it as it was My deceased Brothers car, forgive the intrusion
I wasnt saying you intruded! Just giving you tips as to what the car would need to fall into the 48-52 era that this thread is all about. i.e, they didnt have lancers yet etc. The car is a really good looking car dont get me wrong!
No need to ask for forgivness. We all have our reasons why we do things in a certain way. But the wheels are what first brings this car off the intended style for the thread and only a proper remark. Then there are some more details, of course. The "funny" plastic knobs however, is more era-"correct" than you think. May it be late in the era, but still... Seen this car before? Built in 1952. You have a VERY nice and clean car there and we are not the ones to tell you what to do with it. It is your car. But for this thread, it lacks a few things to fit in. With all good intentions J.B.
Well it looks like I wont be posting my car on here for another couple months.. had a small incident with the hood flying open
Fishes 36.....what a gorgeous car and a timewarp picture.I borrowed this off Rik's site and the picture was taken by Jason Bickford. This was not shot with a new modern fancy camera...you can just tell by looking at it.To me it is just spot on from back in the day,one of the best timeless pictures i have seen in a while.
J.B. posted this and a couple other great photos earlier on the 39/40 merc thread and he even said they belong over on this thread.I couldnt copy his whole post but this one sums it up pretty good. The influence of where the "Speedboat" stance came from.If the car has anything to do with the way things used to be back in the day........then this is how they should sit for the era of this thread. Not every single one sat like this but most did.
