Here are a couple newer built sleds that fit this thread.(this pic needs to be bigger but I dont know how to do it.)
You can build a car like that but it's taken you almost two years to figure out how to post a picture??? Wow, you really are old school!
Those are two beautiful kustoms, but why is that merc showing so much whitewall in the rear? I wonder what Jerry would think about that.
I know drip rails are tabboo... I'm still running driprails and my car is a recent build within the last few years...Trying not to be a killbuzz but I dont get what the big deal is with driprails maybe someone can educate me????
Removing drip rail was pretty much a manditory modification when a top was chopped to get that ultra smooth look. Some guys think when they are removed you not only lose the functionality of the drip rail but the top loses some character without that line running across it and down the back but to build a true period Kustom they need to be removed.
It may not be period (either is my 41 because I dont care about period correct- thats what this thread is all about) but your car is sweet- looking forward to seeing it again.
LOL my body guy went thru a lot of trouble fixing my crookedy dented drip rails... Now I find out that they are not period correct.
That shoebox regardless of the 55 trim has an amazing chop and stance one of the best i have seen.sorry carry on.
Well John, its all your taste and what you like but if you are building a period car and that is your goal then yes the driprails should of went.In one of the Barris books there is a picture with a air chisel ripping off a driprail and George says" One of the first things we did was get rid of the driprail". I know this well because Dick Dean didn't want to take mine off and he told me that back in the early days the driprails were left on.So I had to take that book out there and show him in person,he was laughing at me and said "Well Jeff you caught me,looks like you have been doing your homework" then the driprails were gone.John if you dig the look then its all good.
Its my friend's tribute to his alltime favorite custom. The original car that ran these caps will be at the history of the custom building this year.
fyi... on the blog that is done by the former owner of the green chrysler (no ties), a lot that would fit in here can be found http://stylishkustoms.blogspot.com/
