yea, but I try to avoid distractions especially when I want to get something done but sometimes I cant help it. that's why i was trying to get as much done before the football season started because i knew it would take away any work done on sundays. and when i work on my car i leave my phone inside the house unless im taking pictures to avoid getting distracted. like today. didn't end there, got back and thought cool ill jump back in my back room and pick up where i left off and shed just go home. didn't happen she followed me back there and layed on my couch to supposedly watch

thanks gerg, wasn't easy but the motivation was there. hard part was keeping the motivation and momentum going and it seems to be a lot of guys I know problem as well. kinda like when someone first goes to the gym, they'll go for a week but lose interest or motivation and stop, but if they see progress theyre hooked and hit it hard. with this I just wanted to spray it so it wont look rusty in the back yard and when I saw a change it just snowballed from there, enough to stop any progress on my 59 that was 90% done. and yea green50, bought it broken for parts and was just going to throw it in there as a visual accessory just for looks but after taking it apart saw how simple the mechanism is and fixed it.

bought the car jan 19 2008 and got it delivered jan 21 2008, just over 6 years i bought it. sat for all that time since till april 1 2013 when i started the build. almost a year in about 2 months so i been building it for 10 months. not bad for that amount of time less than a year its pretty much done. i look at the first pictures, man its come a long way but it was worth it because 10 months ago i had a car rotting away in my back yard that at the time i thought would never be done and would drive, was going to sell it as a project car for 3500. glad i didn't, very glad

thanks guys, this thead is pretty much hit the end of its run besides maybe pinstriping and minor accessories or touches nothing major left now that the trunk is done. but keep posted, ill keep it going with photo shoots I have set up for it It will be interesting ;)

the main point of this whole build is to motivate the home builder, give kind of a guideline to the guy that doesn't have the means to pay his car to go from one shop to another to get it done and make the common guy get in his garage and build his car on his own. I been there, know the feeling and wanted to give a guideline and motivation to have you guys do the work yourself not even how small the work you do to your car is, show you don't need a pro shop to get your car done. I been In the works of finishing a book on auto restoration and go into heavy detail all of my work ive done from home for the home builder to do on his own, a book that I plan to have put out to the public not for sale but available to download by anyone on thepiratebay or any torrent site or direct download link. its my thanks for those who have helped me and those who need the help. im half ways through writing it will be available soon. it will be a general guideline for body and paint, complete rewiring, upholstery and trim/molding restoration and mechanical. I was never in this for profit, but for the love of classic cars and the sport of it. its what I been busy with as well for a while but will be done soon as well and will put up for download very soon for free. thank you to all those who have motivated me and helped me so far along this path, I will repay in kind with a one of a kind informative free downloadable book

didn't get much done today, spent the day working on my 65. all I did to this one was put the lower weatherstripping and put on front license plate. tomorrow ill start the trunk lid panel

hows this for power, 72 volts once wired up in a series 1100 cold cranking amps each and factory fresh b=February and 4=2014. this is whats going to power the hydraulic pumps in my 65 impala. last batteries were 700 cold cranking amps and were used batteries, these are almost double that in amps so ill see how much juice my car will have when I hit the switch. I can imagine the spark if I make contact with something if I hit it with a wrench

today I tied up all loose ends in the trunk. I double checked all the rear wiring, put in and wired the license plate light and ran the 3rd brake light wire for the powered accessory topper

also I didn't have a light in the trunk, so I went to the junkyard and picked this up and put it in

if you look I also sealed all the molding holes with caulk sealer

I got inside the trunk to see exactly where the trunk lid edge is and weatherstripping starts

my trunk was nice and plush, but the lid looked dirty. this was early this morning

I like your creativity and imagination, and I wish I had your drive to get things done, but when I look at that trunk there is just a little too much going on. I think it would look better if you had stuck to the same pattern on the sides, top and floor. Not trying to pee in your Wheaties, just giving u an honest opinion...

thanks whtbaron, no never any hurt feelings with me when I get someones opinion cause im just wingin it here and sometimes need some guidance, input or suggestions because its just me building this here alone and get ahead of myself sometimes that's why theres a few other things ive done and took off as soon as it was done so I never posted on here but as for the trunk ive already made two other sets of trunk panels so I have now 3 to switch around from. I made extras to sell at the Pomona swapmeet, each with a different look and style but I liked how they look so I think im keeping them but now having the templates for the panels I can make a totally new set in 2 hours. one has buttons and pleats all around ill put them in tomorrow and take pictures.

today took it easy, wrapping up some wiring, little things I needed t get out of the way

I bought some ground straps to ground the battery so now from battery to block then from block to frame. some people told me still another from frame to body. but the only thing im running besides the lights and the spark for the plugs is an aftermarket radio with 4 speakers, no amp just 4 speakers. do I need that much ground?

also this week need to figure out what im going to do with the hubcaps. I like the all black look, not sure if I want to go shiny new chrome caps and beauty rings I like how it looks all black. have to figure something out this week. and hopefully drive it by Thursday to the muffler shop to get the exhaust bent right

did more wiring today, started late but almost done with that part of this build. I noticed my ground post on my battery was getting hot, I mean really hot you couldn't even touch it. so I cleaned up the post, the terminals, and went under and threw this on to make sure it grounds right

the guy at napa told me to go from the battery to the block, from the block to the frame like in the pictures, but then from the frame to the body then from the body back to the frame. im not running any tvs or even amps in it, just a radio and the lights. so I just got one for the block to the frame.

forgot about this, this is what it looks like lit up it lights up when I turn on the dash and headlights

I used a small bulb, I didn't want it lighting up the back seat like the dome light, just wanted a small glow or mood light. came out just how I wanted it. its going to rain by the weekend, so I want to get as much done as possible before that. hope it doesn't rain sunday, its the Pomona swapmeet

I would run a ground strap from the frame to the body also.....it can be a smaller size than the frame to engine one.

I had a 36 Chev that the gauges acted funny, and was going to replace them with a three panel set under the dash.I installed a ground cable first and it fixed the problem.

Remember, your gauges, lights, and headlights are all grounded to the body, and the frame, body and engine are usually all mounted with rubber mounts

yea ups, I noticed with the ground strap only to the frame the dash lights light up brighter so im going to get one for the body for sure. I ordered my radio and speakers, should have them in in about a week to install I got a cool radio im going to hide away somewhere.

wired up most of it, trunk lights light up good

and look what I put on, original wig wag it does this when I step on the brake
