Wow what a bust, I got all jacked up on a old g***er and it wasn't too pretty under the carpet. Probably the shortest dream car ever..I don't mind doing patch panels and floor pans, but don't have the time for inner structure repair. Sorry for the let down on a future g***er build. Gotta quit counting my chickens before they hatch dammit. The pics make it look nicer than it is.
OuCH. Augment the original frame with a cage, cut the body up and bolt it on.Pretend it's a fibergl*** shell. Opening doors and stuff a'la Pro Stock.
You're kidding, right? That's a cherry by Midwest standards. My '36 had no floor at all, and broke in two when we picked up off the frame. Stop whining and wasting time on the HAMB, get busy and fix it up. Brian B
I would run it like it is until it falls to pieces. Hell, call it rusty. Stop whinning & fix it. My $.02 "AND THE BOWTIE ROLLS ON"
Looks about as bad as my '41. Cut it out and add new stuff. Once I started, I couldn't stop. the only origional part of my floors is the top of the toe boards, and the rear 2/3 of the tunnel.
Don't give up so fast. My Henry J g***er project was just as bad. "Pics of the repair work in my photo albums" Floors are very easy to fix. If the price is right on the car and it is a dream of your to own. Then go for it!!!!!!!!!!!
Build you a cage, hang the body panels off of it, and go from there. The stock floors and stuff are too heavy anyway. As RallisRacings dad always says "If you don't know whether to use a part or not, throw it up in the air. If it comes back down leave it off, it's too heavy." Larry T
Dang it anyway, not a lot of these body styles as g***ers. But we all have to do what we can. Larry-T's dad's quote is great, "throw it up in the air, and if it comes back down, it's to heavy", gave me a good laugh. Thanx. Do your best to hang in there with the ol Chevy bro. ~sololobo~
Vacuum out all the ****, go to town with a wire wheel and see where you really are. Chances are it`s not as bad as you think. Many have made do with far less.
Lets see now ,profile says you are a mechanic,Hamb name is KustChops and you are *****ing about some metal work . If you are looking for a turn key g***er get rid of it. Remember the word Can't is really Can with **** on the end.
Man you guys are tough, By the way Kustchops was a reference to my fat Elvis side burns I was wearing since the late 80's. I work at a restoration shop and do rust repair all day long, doing a 60 olds hardtop right now. And its got a lot to do with lack of space I have a single car garage and my time is being used up on a 63 futura convert for the wife. I was just hoping for a quicker fix to put it on the road. If I cant trade it for a start of a custom or a early coupe carc*** to store in my back yard I will or I will put it in storage till I get time to do it in a few months. If I s****ped it I wouldn't buy beer, maybe whiskey its getting cold now. And that ****s that alot of you fellas gotta start with tough cars I guess I am spoiled.
The arizona sun keeps me warm enough i only need beer and the cars we have out here make that one ready for the crusher
Man you are lucky to have nice tin out there, I lived in California for a few years during high school and I remember the body's laying in the washes around palm springs and palm desert, laying out in the elements for years and you didn't have the pick them up with dustpan and shovel.
