Ok A while back I posted something about a 1948 Chevy bieng chopped and having the front end clip and rear end transferred from a 1973 Nova onto the 1948 Chevy, the thing is That we got a 1975 Nova and removed the front end clip and the rear end axle, and now we called the guy whos suppose to do the work on it, and now the ****er is saying that a 1975 NOVAS!!! FRONT END CLIP and rear end clip WILL NOT FIT onto the 1948 CHEVY STYLEMATSER!!! when he told us!! to get a 1962-1975 Nova for the 48' chevy!!! So does anyone know if the Novas front end clip and and rear axle will fit onto the 48 Chevy???? Im sooo ****ing pissed I dont know what to do with myself!!!!
anything will fit into anything, THATS THE FORMULA for BUILDING HOT RODS, sounds like the JACK*** you have working on your ****, is one of those CRESCENT WRENCH hot rod builders, and his MIND EXPANDS about as far as that WRENCH..... I could make it fit,, the MORE FAB the MORE MONEY of course,, but it sounds like if those PIECES were the LAST PIECES to make the ONLY CAR RUNNING in the world that SOMETHING could be done .... does the BUILDER live in FLORIDA?
75 Nova is too wide. Don't use it. I know 73 and earlier will work. I had a 72 in my 47 ford. And even then we narrowed it because I wanted to run a 41 nose on the car. Measure the track, (center of your tire on one side to the center of the tire on the other side), and then measure the clip track. That will tell you. Nutz.

Why's it a crisis!?? You got a DEADLINE to meet? Or a Million $$$ wrapped up in Nova parts...Chill out dude... Like Germ said, anything will fit...and if not...fall back and punt. It AIN'T the end of the world. Life is FAR too short to freak out about car ****...S***ch
NUMBER ONE RULE-Customer should never get his own partsNO EXCEPTIONS!-BTW s**** Iron is coming up-srap that stuff. FIRST CHIOCE-get a crossmember for a pinto mustangII[new] -and weld it to your frame-its all bolt on from there....then you need a nova/camaro rear[no newer than '74] another frt frame swap would be a early 80's Malibu or even an S-10 might be somethin to consider.....it would be narrow enough.....that nova you have is 4" too wide-I dont think I would recommend narrowing that one at all......
75 was a changeover year for the Nova and it's GM corporate cousins. The front subframes got "clunkier", and are less desireable for swaps like what you're doing. (But 75-79 Novas all had disc brakes, whereas drums could still be had on 74 and earlier ones). Not sure if the spindles will directly swap onto 1968-74 Nova spindles...but if so, you may wanna pull 'em if disc brakes are in your plans. (Check the ball joint part numbers at a competent parts joint...if they're the same for 74 and 75, then you can likely swap the spindles you have onto an earlier clip when you get one).
74 and earlier...rear steering box location. 75 up...FRONT steering box. Spindles MIGHT swap to an earlier Nova ch***is if the arms unbolt and you can bolt on the rear steer arms. For some reason I don't think they do on the 75 up models...could be wrong. Bill
Nope no swappin spindles- I believe they use the same spindle as an Impala Monte carlo[bigger for sure]
Hmmmmm...Yup! I THOUGHT they were different Choprods! 75 clip is a total redesign from the 74's....! Bill
you could use the sub, but if you put it on to low you are going to run into some radiator problems due to the steering box being in the way, the 68-73 nove subs are the best to use, if you get a drum brake front they are an inch narrower also. my freinds just put one in his 48 arrow sedan and fit like a glove, hes done a ton of the type of grafts and they work great, just easier to use the "rear steer" type sub.
[ QUOTE ] Just bolt the ****er in and then widen the fenders to fit. Easy as trippin over your shoe laces. [/ QUOTE ] Or you could flare the fenders........... Serioulsy though, I would'nt clip it. I'd go with a Mustang II. They are much narrower than a Nova or Camaro clip. Also, unless you really trust someone else's work I would'nt let just anyone cut my frame in half and then "hopefully" weld it back not only solid, but straight. Thats just my two cent's.
yeah i wouldnt use it either, ITS NOT LIKE ITS NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE! there a millions of the cars with nova/camaro subs in em, my friend and his dad can acount for tons of em ive seen 20 of them theyve done in the last 3 years, they work great if done correctly and some times that requires to narrow them, they ride i hell of alot better than any mustanged car ive riden in, granted i havent riden in tons of each but enough to have an opinion, so before i piss anybody this is just my opinion!

[/ QUOTE ] You are right, I would not either. But why is a M II instalation less scary? I have seen some of those put in crooked with Bird **** welds and steering colom hookups that I would not trust at all...
Hmm, 1962-1975 Novas represent like four completely different front end setups. 1962-1965 1966-1967 (maybe not to 67) 1968(or 67) -1974 1975-
doesnt ch***is engineering make a bolt in mustang 2 crossmember?, personally i would rather use the stock frame than to cut the whole damn front off and graph some ******* thing to it anyway it doesnt end just there ..now you have to cut all the sheet metal to fit...and if the ***** your having do this deal locates the tire in the wheel well wrong its gonnna look ****ed ive seen alot of terrible clip jobs done by people who shouldnt be allowd to use a ratchet much less a welder..
demon, you are NOT paying attention. this is what i said LAST time. it concerned the rear. "ok demon, here's the scoop from somebody that actally owns AND drives it everyday(except snow, that's when i get my 46 coe out). a 68-74 nova WILL work fine with deep-dish wheels(positive offset)altho 8"(wheel) will be max with the CORRECT backspacing. 75-79 nova is a better choice for a standard (read that as stock) wheel 68-72 chevelle will work but they be ugly and more work to install ya gotta trim off the brackets and there's a bunch. and before ya even ask, the driveshaft will depend on where the engine ends up." now i'll tell ya the rest. 68-74 nova+clones,67-69 camaro/fbird frt subs (rear steer) will fit but i like mine lower and with disc brakes and 205r14" tires, they still rub on tight corners. been there, done that. 75-up frt steers are TOO ****ING WIDE TO WAST TIME AND MONEY ON!!! MII will get the width more manageable but i personally don't think it drives as well. btw, i run a 14X7 wheel on the front cuz the MII looks a little TOO narrow for my tastes although it measures out close to stock width. yep, have one in my coupe now... want to know what I THINK (haven't tried it yet)? 79-87 G-body Why no 78? no lowered spindle option plus it's sorta a 1 year only deal but will work... i'd probably stay away from 81-up just cuz of metric wheel studs depending on what i need at the time. my advice? valium....
Here is my opinions and my experience. I hate the look of the mustang front end under those cars. The wheels set too far inside the wheelwell, and you have a large gap between the tire and fender, unless you run real wide rims on the front. On my 41, I used a 75 camaro sub, ran 14x6 centerlines, and they cleared fine, never rubbed. I did have to notch my core support to clear the box, but it worked fine, and also had to notch the pan behind the grill, (lower valance area) but it was no big deal. I also ran the orig rad, cooled good, lived in Fla when I built it, never overheated and no fan shroud. I welded some 1x1 tubing to the core supput, and put feet on the bottom of it to mount the front sheet metal. I'd use what ya got, in my opinion.....Toqwik
