Suburbans came standard with front anti sway bars. I'd like to see that post.

Search on this: 1955 CHEVY PU SUSPENSION UPGRADES THAT MADE A HUGE DIFFERENCE. That is the thread title. It was done on a task force truck (55-59). He added a rear sway bar and the shocks. I believe he has ordered a front sway bar now too.

Another must have... exhaust dumps... (I tucked them under the running boards so not too obvious)... fun to mix it up once in a while...

I really like the bare metal look, but going to take it to bonneville. It will be a little easier with primer. I was hoping to have all the metalwork done before primer, but that will happen later.

  8. Looks awesome Matt!!! Are you heading to Bonneville with Ben? That would be a killer chase vehicle!

Thanks Jason! No, we are taking a family trip in the RV, this will be on a trailer as our get around car. If I were going with Ben I'd be in the roadster!

I was just about to post the reference to the Bilstein shocks being a HUGE improvement on a straight axle vehicle. If you haven't already you MUST have newly refreshed kingpins and replace the old style tie rod ends with modern ones. Most aftermarket old truck supplies have them for it. You already have the Posies Super Sliders and dropped axle which are the best way to lower it and it looks GREAT. What will the exterior colors be when it's final painted? Can't wait to see it finished!

Thanks! I do have refreshed king pins and new style tie rod ends. Exterior will be the same as the interior/firewall color. See previous posts, kind of a charcoal color.

  13. Awesome. That will be a killer trip. I wanted to try and go this year but it kinda is the same time for my beach house in OBX. Maybe next year for me. Ill have to put a top on the roadster for that trip!!

update... took the suburban to speed week. But before I did I put a few coats of epoxy primer over the bare metal. It ran great. (we did tow it behind the RV and used it as our get around vehicle) I used the air conditioning the entire time, sitting idling on the salt flats with the air on and no overheating. I do need more insulation on the inside to keep the cold air in....
