been quite awhile (or so it seems) hunting down the right pieces for this car. First we got the 12 to 10 bolt adapters from jim paternoster for a real good deal. thanks jim. then we found a few side bells that we salvaged 3 out 5. next came the halibrand 12 bolt center that we got from another hamby.....it arrived rough but after a few days and over 64 heli-coils we had a good usable piece. still being in the mock up stage i got all these parts cleaned and primed and ***embled.....just looking at it sitting on the jack stands is neat. next week it will get set in place under the car and with a few more things will be able to have 4 wheels on it. the center section came from choptop37 here on the message board and got to say thanks to him for selling it to us.

got a couple pictures of the car with the front hubs on,waiting on some ford 2" drums. i`m waiting to hear from another hamby out in utah that has to 3/4 ton hub/drum combo`s ...known as milkweed on here.......the responce has been great from this message board....thanks to all.......it helps things when anyone reading or viewing this effort leaves a comment or a question. when you do it bumps this to the top and more people will see it.......thanks also glad to see stan posting in here. if you have any history or stories stan jump right in........and finally it`s also neat to see all the denny zimmerman pictures on the message board.....they are in the vintage sprint car posts........next picture will be of denny in this hilleg*** car

well looks like we made a little more progress on the car......i did get the rear end set under the car and squaring things up too. i also got the front brake drums and hubs connected.......and have got the rear brake stuff headed here...... we had a little fun this last week at NHIS as we brought up our old 64 nova late model and ran a bunch of laps on the track......there were some beautiful restored cars there and they looked so good out on the track. i will load some pics on here of both the cars at nhis and the sprinter..........

first the NHIS pics........a little background on the history of this car was that it was the 1970 and 1971 NESMRA late model championship car . a large portion of the success of this car was from a bunch of dedicated crew members such as Al "Hoppy" Hopkins.....Bob Sherwood....Don Ballard...Johnny Arvo....Gene Trask....Paul Lemieux.

This car won 21 features in 1970.....

l cannot get over the work you are doing and how nice the car is looking. Did Gene Trask make the missing radius rod? That was a real nice job. The suspention looks like it just came out of the factory. The #14 late model was at Loudon and looked like it could still win races. Great job Jim

well it was fun to get away for a bit but more fun to pick up where i left.........................i dropped all the front end stuff off the car and gave all a good coat of paint....finished some of the small parts that i had left off ,kinda makin sure all the front end stiff will work.....so far so good. will leave a few shots up here and then it`s back to re***embling the halibrand qc.......i recieved a vhs tape from Skip and watched it this morning it has a bunch of film of this car running and winning at thompson..........it sure is neat to see the car in action .....and boy do those thompson days look familiar........

Well here is the latest update on the progress. I`ve got the rear end under the car..have the correct 10-6 coupler hooked to the driveshaft. Got the u-joint in place and waiting now for a pc of tubing to make the torque tube......could not find a pc of 2 5/16" tube anywhere so i settled for a pc. of 2 3/8" and having it turn to fit.....another project i thought would be simple and it wasn`t. I have all the brake lines run except for one which will slide in when i take the dummy block out. All four wheels are ready for some rims and tires which i have some lined up......hopefully get them on next week......gonna be fun to drop her on the floor and roll her outside .....cant wait myself.......saw some real nice early midgets/ sprint cars at thompson speedway yesterday......there are some fine looking cars out there.........got a few pics to attach...hope you like

well the old girl finally came off the stands........been a long time up there and still aways to go ...... finally finished up the driveline and got all the brakes working with the proper hubs in place.......got a nice sunny day here today and couldn`t resist setting her on all fours......scored some rims from a latemodel cl*** that runs around here and those tires will do until we get a set of those towel city retreads for her........waiting on the 241 hemi motor to show up......skip and the boys dowm in ct. are trying to fire it on the engine stand to make sure no problems exist.......then we gotta get it cleaned up and painted and in the ch***is!

well first a couple stories...for all of you that have done this before you all know the headaches and pitfalls that can and will happen. not being a hemi guy as they say i did not know of these engine plate that went between the motor and the trans........for the most part it`s duty was to mount the starter to the motor as far as i could see........sooooo........as i first installed the motor with out the spacer the crank extened way into the in/out box and hit......couldn`t have that!......again not knowing about those midplates gave me a few sleepless nights.......til i spotted one on a 241 engine someone was rebuilding in fl.......got on the comp here and asked some questions and got replys immediately. one from washington st. and anothe from vermont.......both offered to send me 2 midplates to use at no charge....just paid for shipping....i want to say thanks to both guys for their offers. i did take a TRWaters up on his offer as he was closer. And wish that anyone thats knows him will mention to him how much i appreciated the offer again.........on his behalf the next time i get the chance to offer something to a hamber in need i will do the same as these 2 guys did........
