1948 lincoln

    bought a 48 lincoln with a v12[spun bearing]since i dont hear of a lot of souped up v12s i;m thinking about putting a very low milage 292 y block out of a 61 fire truckmy friend has.anyone here know much about v12s?

    Motor swaps were common in those cars in the '50's. Apparently the V12 did not have a long life. Caddy and other OHV conversions were popular in an otherwise stocker.

    It's been years back,1980's I worked on a few Lincoln V12's,they'd both been vilated by some jerk off speed shop,they balanced them wrong and beat a rod out on 2 def. ones,that came into my place,seems they did not know the V12 needed to be treated like two inline 6's,not a V8 type bal. job,all-in-all when rite can be smooth power,I think they look kool. Not much speed stuff out there,got make your own.
    I built headers and redid stock intake to take 2 more carbs,left cam alone.
    With the small rods about 4200 is max out for safe.

    i was at the junkyard in statsburg ny.the old guy there told me that they used to put flathead v8s in them.he said he may have some of the motor parts in one of the school buses.its all there complete to the skirts.
