Kewl, good for ya. Sounds like the stuff I have to do after I finish the other side of making the bottom 5 inches of inner rocker/floor/a and b pillar...shit that will let the car now have an open door without the cowl and roof flex. Then after this, another 51 in the same shape. If I could afford a nicer start, prolly would. Shit if I could buy one 90% done, prolly would!

I just wanna fix up an old Merc tho. I could give a shit less if someone buys thier car.

I was just joshin ya like ya did with Bob, but I guess you are better at giving it than taking it.

Hey Dave. I can see this thread will have me looking for another Merc. Maybe after I finish the 55 Chevy, the 65 Mustang, the 50 Chevy pick up, the 50 Thames....... same old story.Too many projects and too little time.

Still working on the Merc and here is a picture of my new dash.
Before you say anything, the steering wheel is temporary.

Two more months and the Merc is back on the road.

    Happy Trails

  7. Lookin good! I'm loving that dash and can't wait to see it in Dewey. The 3 year old says every day she is going to "Okahoma".....the only time she has ever been there was for the Stray Kat. :)

I ain't got the talent or the bucks to get my stainless cut down so I used that plastic door edge guard, low buck, got it from JC Whitney, a 20 ft. roll is like $ 19.95.
From 5 foot away you can't tell the difference.

I tell ya Im ALL about chopped Mercs, but this would make a reeeal nice cruiser.

The 51 that changed my thinking was 51MercCT's car...that thing is NIIICE (looks similar to the photoshop car here) A real classy non chopped cruiser.

  27. I love this thread, it's better than any book I could find on Mercs. Thanks again to Bob and the guys for answering all my questions.

I can see why some folks really prefer the drip rails.
