Hell, I forgot to update the Merc thread....I can't let Bad Bob out do me. Here is the finished version of my Merc. She took two years, but she's finally done. -Abone.
Hey Bob, if anyone lost their faith in how kool flames can be, they only need look at you're Merc to be healed!
The chop was already started but it needs to be finished, It has the original flathead in it and it ran a couple years ago but the guy I bought it from doesn't know anything about engines let alone flatheads. It shouldn't take too much to get it together. Rob
this is the one that turned me on to mercs. I used to see it slinking around town when I was a kid. upholstery was awsome very coffin like. anyone know what happened to it? (photo credit peter pan of chicago)
I was going to ask on its own thread but I guess this just as good, I am wondering if anyone has some pics of a 51 Merc I used to drive when I was 16 and 17, I got to drive it to high school this would have been around 1990 and 91, IT was built by Larry Kramer, it was purple with a light purple in the 53 buick side trim, It had frenched headlights and a custom set of smaller frenched tailights, white tuck and roll with purple piping, it was striped by Dauber (sp), it had a SBC with 3x2's I believe it came to Toronto from a guy in Cleveland, it was showed at the Cleveland Autorama in the late eighties. I know its a crap shoot but at tleat one pic would be cool to see. I believe the grill was a pontiac. John
I know that it was owned by a guy named Jerry Macuga and he eventually did it silver under the sidetrim and addaed 5 miles more of striped flames.I havent seen it in 23 years.
The grille was 2 51 Merc bumperguards inside a 55 Pontiac bar which was moulded in.The car was chopped with slanted posts.I have a nice picture that I took of it 23 years ago,the same day that I saw the Jerry Macuga merc posted above.LOL Ill post em Monday
Here's one I just picked up. It was built about 12 years ago and is showing it's age and has several design issues that need resolved, but it's totally solid and the deal was too sweet to pass up.
yes I remember the silver 2-tone version to, required after scratching it when loading on a trailer. the black paint on this car was rumored to have been brush painted.....hard to believe
Hey Dave, welcome to the Merc family!!!!!! All ya need is a good foundation. Looking forward to watching you change it too your style. Kan't wait to see it in person. Very kool!! Welcome aboard Merc brother!! Here is some other Mercs from Salina this year...
Here's my dad's '50, it had been running and driving in DP90 for 20 years and he decided to take it apart to paint it, and ended up having a local bodyshop do some metalwork, the chop was done by buflochp and my dad in '81, it's in bare steel in the garage now and we're planning on finishing it. Hopefully sometime next year it'll be done.
I wanna play too. Here's my '51 coupe and the smashed '50 coupe that I bought in the last couple of months. I've been into old cars since grade school and could never get my hands on one of these, and then all of a sudden it's raining Mercs. I know where a few more are, all coupes. Will try to get a hold of those too. I'll have a whole hoard of them.
all you have to find is a 51 Merc optionnal bumper guards two long and thin guards... even comes with the v-ed thin bar
WHY? Gay flames, stupid mirrors, stupid side pipes! Can just imagine what the interior looks like,HA HA! Just kidding!!! The car does look good, but it's lost in the details...
